Release date thread

I think it will be good to have one central place to have the latest news people here about the updated release date. DCR said it looks like early March. The garmin site says 5-8 weeks but thats the default time on all new products. Everywhere I read it says "By end of Q1" which is the end of March. Rei still doesnt have it listed yet either. Has anyone heard anything more specific?

I am 6'0" and have 7" wrists. I tried on a 5 and actually felt like it was a bit small. I preferred the size of the 3HR. I have not had the honor of trying on a 5x though.

Interesting, I'm identical height and wrist size... I wear a FR230 now, and really wouldn't want anything larger than this. I guess it's all what you're used to though...

Very interesting; I'm 6' with 7.25ish" wrists and i've been worried the 5 would be comically large. This is great info, thanks!

What we need is DC Rainmaker to chime in with his patented oreo size comparison.
  • Two versions (F5 & F5S) are said to be available in France to shop at irun.fr
Alas, I'm waiting for the bundle as I seek the data available from the HR strap.
  • Can't see it there ? Unless you really need the HRM-Tri you can get the red HRM-Run for 70€ on Amazon (same price as the HRM-Tri in the bundle).

Well curiosity got me so I called CT about my 1/12 Fenix 5S Black/Black Sapphire today. Basically I was told they expect to continue to get very small numbers of units this week but that they continue to expect shipments to grow large and significant by the end of the month and being able to rapidly fill preorders. I seem to recall it being similar back during the Fenix 3 launch where for 2-4 weeks shipments were slow and then one day DCRainmaker (Ray) and CT basically said here comes the big shipment and then things got moving much more quickly. I hope its true, its just one employee at CT talking to me but they do seem fairly knowledgable compared to customer service at less industry specific places. I'm a little over waiting at this point especially with many enjoying their watches... oh well, first world problems.
  • Well just an update for my B&H holdouts: I was informed via stock email today that they don't expect the shipments from Garmin until LATE April. Usually B&H is spot on with these but they really messed this one up. When all the other watches in the Fenix series changed to "April 25th" I asked twice if that applied to the Fenix 5/5 Sapp that still showed March and they that those were still on track for March. Obviously a huge bummer but not much I can do about it now.

I'd advice anyone else with a B&H preorder to look elsewhere unless you're really patient.

I'm 6' with 6.25" wrist and wear an F3 during the day, and for workouts, and a 235 at night for overnight HR.

The F3 doesn't look comically large on me but I'll be picking up an F5s in a few months. While I think the regular F5 would be okay and certainly better than the F3 the 5s is just the better all arounder if you're not doing tri's or ultras beyond 50k. IMHO of course.
