Note: Please allow for the updates to propagate across all servers. There is no need to post that the link does not work. It will after a bit of patience.

8.22 Change Log Notes:

  • Fixed an issue that interfered with proper widget exit behavior.
  • Fixed an issue where Strength activity summary information was displaying dashes on the Last Sport widget.
  • Made improvements to the CIQ music apps.

Please note, the beta updates released on these forums are not suitable for APAC region devices.

Please send all bug reports to [email protected], and indicate which model of the fenix 5 Plus series you have in the subject line.

  • Installed, the the exit behavior of widget is correct instead of the freezing of 8.21b. Keep on testing...

  • It appears that the widget exit behavior forces an exit every time the back button is pressed when running a widget.  I have a widget which creates a second view via the app menu.  When the pushing the back button while on the second view, the app will exit instead of going back to the main view or menu.  I have send the email report with the link to the CIQ developers bug report.  I would say the fix is better than the crash I saw in 8.03, but it still does not behave the same as other devices.

  • I'm consistently missing stairs on my daily walk to the 20th floor since 8.22

I'd say it is consistently missing around 20%

  • Hi,

    F5plus

installed 8.22 an Monday evening. Came from 8.03.

8.03 was very stable and had for my watch very low battery consumption. Amazing with looking back on 7.60.

Loading of maps and booting was very fast. Around 30-40 seconds. 8.03 sometimes forgot my HRM run and I had to reboot the watch.

That was the only known issue with my watch.

Now on 8.22 stairs counting does not work since today. Climbed 5 stairs on my way to the office but counted 0. Yesterday evening when I drove out of the deep level garage I got 2 stairs while driving ?

Battery consumption is again much higher than with 8.03. Going from 100 % at 10 pm to 91 % in the morning at 6 am. 8.03 was around 3 - 5 %

Booting is very slow and tooks around 2 minutes staying in state "loading maps". Garmin TOPO maps are not working since lots of versions. I think 6.xx.

My watch only shows the installed OSM map or, when I deactivate the OSM map it shows only the Europe base map.

Sleep tracking is crap. My Forerunner 735XT was reasonable, the Fenix 5 plus sleep track ist crap, crap, crap. If I sleep so less deep I have to be dead.

Garmin Support wants to change the watch against a new one.

  • Besides the stairs problem I now also noticed the drain. 30% in 2 days is horrible. Indeed 8.03 was really good compared.

  • Same for me on my 5Xp

  • I did a soft reset and the battery only   dropped 1% from 10pm to 7am. Not a thorough test I admit but it might worth a try for you

  • Yes, I recharged and reset, it's good again

Well so far this has been a pretty good beta for me. Battery life is good and I did have an issue with Amazon Music refusing to uninstall but got round that. No crashes or reboots so far and gps tracking is as good as its ever been. However I run in rural environments so buildings aren’t an issue. As the phrase goes your mileage may vary,

Will there ever be a time when we end users can download non-betas manually? Will probably help server load.
