Garmin Pay stopped working June 2019 (Fenix 5s Plus)

Hello, my Garmin pay stopped working near the end of June 2019.  I was just on a live chat with Garmin where they suggested doing a soft reset (holding down upper left button until the device shuts off).  I'm going to test that later today.  If that does not work then they have instructed me to try a master reset.  Has anyone else experienced this issue when using the watch?  I really do not want to do a master reset on this device.

  • I just remembered that I deleted the Credit Card from Garmin Pay prior to deleting the watch from the Connect app on my phone. I will update the process above...

  • I meant: History -> Totals on watch itself.

    I've got the following after reset: 

    Odometer, Running & Swimming: all zeros; Cycling data recorded with edge830 only.

    I had full backup, tried restoring totals.fit but it didn't work.

  • OK, I found what you are referring to. I have not used that before. My odometer history only includes what I have done since I reset the watch. Activity history (running, cycling, etc.) goes back to September, which was long before I reset the watch. I think activity history is pulling from the app on my phone, but that is just a guess. I think odometer history cannot be restored. But you can see that same type of information in the app on your phone. 

  • My nfc died yesterday with the 10 upgrade. Face palm soft reset didnt work.

    an update on my side... called Garmin. Garmin advised me that they will have to replace my unit (again). Therefore, going to send it back

    Hi did it continue to work after after the v10 update when you did the master reset being on v9? Thanks

    Hi

    I did not conduct a master reset on the V9, neither on the V10. I also was not advised to do so by the support interestingly. However, since I need to send back the device the second time, I return my 5X Plus altogether, get a refund and buying the 6x. Hopefully, I have more luck.

    I generally find the 5x Plus to have a lot of software issues :(
