Who likes the new form layout? I don't.

To many bells and whistles, no good overview. Like the voting mechanism though but our own dutch tweakers.net has a cleaner implementation.

I can't get to the latest post. Long threads take half an hour to scroll down. Garmin is not really really not a software company...

    use the search with *

    https://forums.garmin.com/search?q=*#serpdate=&serpsort=date%20desc&serp=1&serpcategory=forum

from there you can filter anything you want

  • Why can't you use one of the 3 options below the post, (Oldest, votes, newest) will sort in the order you wish.  I'm only generally interested in the newest posts in a thread that I'm following, I hit "Newest", and the newest post is at the top.

you still have to look for the subposts in between

those buttons would work when the overview was formatted in FLATLINE

    check these display options...simple Wink

  • Go to the Disappointing battery life thread. Clicking on newest sill only takes you one page down and there are many pages. Takes forever om my super fast laptop with 250MB internet connection...

  • I don't need newest post in a thread. I don't need oldest. I don't need voted posts.

What I need is the first unread (by me) post in a thread, so I can continue from where I left the thread the last time I visited the forum. Your three options won't give me that. The old forum did.

  • And in 6 months, everyone will be fine with the new forum. No one likes change but if you’d like to talk about Garmin Wearables, then it is what it is. Garmin probably spent significant time & money on this, they’re not going back.

  • I agree they won't

They live on their customers so I believe it's fair that customers voice their opinion.

I also believe the new forum software/implementation is poor (no way to mark all threads read). With any luck Garmin read these messages and care enough to want to improve. They're saving a ton of support hours by customers helping each others.

  • This is not a case of not liking something new.

The new forum simply doesn't support keeping track of threads.

Which threads in a subforum have I posted in? I can only know that by remembering the title of each and every thread I have ever posted in. Or by going to my profile and seeing a lists of all posts in all subforums.

If I return to a thread, which post is the first one I haven't read earlier? Again: I need to remember how far I came in that thread.

Are there new posts in threads I have participated in? Your guess is as good as mine.

These are key elements, which are necessary for any forum to work, unless you just want people to do some kind of hit and run posting in threads, where they post once and never come back.

But you are probably right that Garmin won't change anything. They will believe they were right, also after a good fraction of the users has left.

  • The forum is better in some ways. I don't have the constant authentication problems that i had before and it seems to deal with screenshots and such better. However I'm not 100% sold on the layout either. It also seems that notifications are not 100% working yet. That said, I was having so many problems trying to post on the old forum that almost anything is better.
