  • Fixed an intermittent issue where the device could crash when fetching calendar information from the smartphone.
  • Fixed an issue where the device was reporting incorrect treadmill calibration values.
  • Fixed a couple of minor issues with golf.
  • Improved the reliability of Wifi syncs.

Please note, the beta updates released on these forums are not suitable for APAC region devices.

Please send all bug reports to [email protected], and indicate which model of the fenix 5 Plus series you have in the subject line.

  • It looks like we paid a premium price for a Garmin watch and it turned us from an end user to a Garmin tester.
  • And Garmin is consistently ignoring the battery issues.
  • I've installed this as I am suffering from odd issues when playing golf.

But, 7.00 was 4 months in development. Immediately after release there was 7.10 to fix issues and now a few days later we have this beta. Frustration levels are rising here.
  • First time Garmin Pay menu called - device hanged completely. Power button reset made. 2 cards were added previously and worked without issues long time on all betas.

Garmin Pay working for me fine.
  • Map panning speed is still an issue.

Is there anyone who finds the wifi problem solved with "Improved reliability of Wi-Fi syncs."?

When will we see the updated features from Firstbeat used in the forerunner 945? There is no reason that this premium watch cannot support those features.
  • We won't see them in the Fenix 5+, at least not according to DCRainmaker's review of the 945 and he has that information directly from Garmin.
You're correct that there's probably no technical reasons why, it's probably more of a business strategy reason and maybe some FirstBeat licensing issues as well.

But we can always hope that Garmin will change their minds of course ;)
However, my best guess is that we wont see these features in a Fenix until they roll out an updated device featuring the new GPS chipset and the new OHR sensor.
  • As far as I'm aware Garmin have never back ported Firstbeat technology into previous watch models, which is far more likely to do with licensing (and obviously also a desire to make you upgrade) than it is a hardware reason.

There's been some pretty steep discounting on the Fenix 5+ in recent weeks so you'd think a minor upgrade is probably just around the corner (called Fenix 5.1 Plus? Or Fenix 5 Plus Plus? Or you know.... Fenix 6? lol)
