Can anyone advise me on where I add the files below. ... I use MacBook .. I have downloaded the files and note they advise to drop each file into specific Garmin device folder.. but for the life of me, I have no idea where to locate those Garmin folders on my Mac.. (watch is connected the Mac ) ... doop de doo !
    • Download and unzip fenix5PlusSeries_***Beta.zip
    • Place the gupdate.gcd file, found in the System_v*** folder, into the \GARMIN folder of the device
    • Place the gupXXXX.gcd file, found in the 5*_Sensor Hub_v*** folder, into the \GARMIN\REMOTESW folder of the device
    • Place the gupXXXX.gcd file, found in the GPS_v*** folder, into the \GARMIN\REMOTESW folder of the device
    • If you have a WiFi-enabled device, place the gupXXXX.gcd file, found in the WiFi_v*** folder, into the \GARMIN\REMOTESW folder of the device
    • Place the gupXXXX.gcd file, found in the ANT_BLE_BT_V*** folder, into the \GARMIN\REMOTESW folder of the device
    • Disconnect from your computer and proceed through the update.
    • If you would like to revert to the last public release software, drop the gupdate.gcd file found in the System_Backdate_v420 folder in the \GARMIN directory
    • NOTE: If you revert to an older version of software, all of your settings will be reset to defaults.
  • With a mac, you need to use something like ATP https://www.android.com/filetransfer/ to access the watch. It's an "MTP" device and macs don't handle that. Make sure that you have Garmin Express shutdown on your mac. Then you copy the files using ATP to the same places as you see in the instructions. The main firmware to the garmin folder and the others to garmin\remotesw.

Jim, you are a star. I downloaded the ATP and can now see all Garmin files. Now, I just know that after trying this beta update, it isn't going to help my glitchy Fenix 5s + lol.. but hey ho !

ok, all done.. lets see what wondrous chaos this has caused lol... thanks again Jim
  • Feedback for Fenix 5 Plus with 4.74:

    - Since update I has constant average resting heart rate, until update it was variable each day
    - Group Track is not working reliably - I've tested it with Fenix 5s Plus with 4.74 - Connected contact is added on every approx. 10th starded activity - it is working on random base... so it is unusable feature.
    - I got one restart when leaving standby activity screen with "back" button
  • Will these updates ever be rolled out to APAC models? The rest of the world is already on 5.10, FFS.
  • So, I ask naively, which is "newer", the 4.74 "Beta", or the 5.10 "Release" version?
  • 5.10 is newer. It came 2 or 3 weeks after 4.74.
