I somewhat naievely thought the 5 plus would be an incremental update from the 5 so all core functionality would be sorted. Seems it's not that simple!
Well this is super annoying. I thought I had auto update off but I did not. Stupid thing updated this morning. I am going to follow the forum’s downgrade steps and go back to 3.10 later tonight. If it blows up I will just factory reset my watch I suppose and go with whatever the watch shipped with.
Yes, I am switching firmware versions (including downgrade to 3.10) as I need (to compare) them in use.
The downgrade process is described in the beta page <Installation Instructions> section. It is as simple as to install beta -- just to drop the 3.10 file to the GARMIN folder. The file for 3.10 is included in the beta ZIP file as below:
The problem with virtual partner is still not fixed. Incredible for such an expensive watch, That way it is not usable for a runner who wants to perform against past activities or wants to run against a defined pace (virtual partner). Is this watch really only for older men wanting something expensive around their wrists?
