Recommended Bluetooth Headphones for 5+

Hi,

Anyone have any BT headphone recommendations for the 5+? Looking for running and cycling. dcrainmaker uses the Skullcandy Method which look decent. I basically don’t want them falling out while I’m moving around and I also want to be able to hear traffic decently. Any other suggestions? Not looking to break the bank.

My previous setup was an iPod shuffle (clip version) with some in earbuds on a wire. But the wire would move around and eventually pull out the bud.

Thanks,
  • Could be a defective watch...or that the antenna is on the right hand side, while the watch is on my left wrist...
I am getting the watch exchanged on Thursday/Friday- will report back.

I bought the Anker Soundbuds Flow. Once i test them, i'll tell you if they're working properly.
  • Jaybird X3 - no dropouts, good sound, not much functionality (only 1 button)
Jabra Active 65t - MASSIVE dropouts, amazing sound when not dropped, every function available

The new Jabra 65ts are amazing earbuds, but my experience on my first run this morning was terrible. Dropped out every time my watch arm would swing backwards. Not sure what's going on. These have BT 5.0, the only good headphones on the market with BT 5.0 so they should have better connection than my X3s (BT4.2). I'm confused. Need more testing.

I'm thinking it might be the signal is only coming from my right ear bud, so when it crosses my body to my left arm, the signal can't go through my liquid-y body mass.
  • Just tried the Anker Soundbuds Slim+...sounds cuts off while running.
The bluetooth antenna is contained on the right hand side of the earbuds, while the watch is on my left wrist- back they go.

Is anyone aware of running earphones with the antenna on the left?

This happened to me this am with some Jabra65t earbuds. I was thinking the same thing, right side BT, left wrist. But that's sad if it doesn't work on brand new devices less than 1 meter away.
  • Beatsx works without problems, also when watch and headphones are 5 meters apart. (Have not tested the full range)
  • Can someone (Garmin?) explain why some headphones work perfectly inside then start cutting out when out of the house?

I've seen this mentioned in the 645 headphone thread also but not sure if there was an answer?

Jabra Sport 65t (newest BT5.0 stack available) works amazing in the house.
Almost complete loss/continuous dropouts as soon as I start running.

I have no other BT devices on my body causing interference.
I'm not using any streaming service, only music on the device.

    I am confused.
  • I assume it would be the position of the watch while running in relation to the BT receiver. Have you tested wearing the watch on the other wrist?
  • When you’re inside there are walls to contain and reflect the signal around. When you’re outside the signal is less contained and dissipate off into the ether.

About the Beats X. When you connect them to the Fenix 5 Plus, what is your opinion on the quality of the sound? Also, sounds loud? I'm asking you because I hear my music very much loud. :)
  • Replaced my first Fenix 5+ due to some damage on the bezel out of the box. It works flawlessly with the same earphones that didn’t work with my previous unit.

The issue I was having must have been resulting from a fault with the actual watch.
