First Gen HRM-Run drops out after 2-ish mins

Second run with the new 5X+ and it did the same thing on each run - all strap related data; ground contact time & balance, stride length, vert oscillation, etc. stops recording at around 2 mins 14 seconds. My wife's new 5+ (not X) is doing the exact same thing. Still getting heart rate, cadence, etc, but that is likely coming from the watch when it drops the strap out. Battery changed in our HRM Runs a couple weeks ago.

We both just upgraded from 5X's which worked fine with the straps.

    UK team not sure resolution and they are not engineering team anyway so really they are just there to reduce noise

    USA beta team rep says its a work in progress and escalated, if this was scientific there would be debug/verbose logs being reviewed and excel tables to find the common element and patch or not as a solution, which i am sure someone is working on......tbh i just want to get on with zwift, my 13.1 training, and playing with stryd now so i am intentionally from now going to either wear my fenix 3 while i run at same time as my 5 plus as that resolves the issue short term... as bluetooth 4.x keeps the data moving... then once the run is over, save the fenix 5 plus run only... or disable bluetooth permanently on the watch.. as its too much of a time waster this whole topic and i dont really need it for zwift and wifi can do syncing anyway... ask me in a week which one i picked...


    p.s. if you ever saw the android verbose log, the number of times in a FIVE minute period garmin connect kicks off a wifi connect attempt is just plain silly
  • Pretty ridiculous that the option is to either hobble the watches Bluetooth functionality, which I used a lot with my Fenix 3hr for intervals, or carry two watches while exercising. For $849, I expect to get a product that works. I’m seriously considering returning the exchange watch if it has the same problem and buying the Apple Watch and stryd.
  • I am also experiencing this with my 5X+ (4.20) and iPhone X (iOS beta 12.9). Today, I only got heart rate and cadence was noted as 0. Yesterday, everything cut out at around the 2:09 mark, except heart rate and cadence. During my runs, I use the red HRM-Run strap (I don't know when generation it is, but I got it when the fenix 3 first came out.) and the Garmin footpod. Both devices show as connected before I start my run.

    Glad to hear they found the issue, hope it can be resolved with software and not hardware. I don't live and die by this data, but if I purchased devices that are supposed to show this data, I want to see it. :)
  • New owner here (upgrade from 5X). Seeing the same issue. Bit frustrated by lack of progress by Garmin now I’ve noticed it!

  • Turning off bluetooth on my iPhone X during a run makes everything work great. Tried it on my last two runs and I got all running dynamics statistics.

    I did not state that it was a solution. Simply confirming what others have said and maybe letting others know who may not have read the other posts...
  • 4.65 Change Log Notes:
    • Fixed issue where ANT sensor data would drop during an activity when connected to a Bluetooth 5.0 smartphone (ANT/BLE/BT 2.91 software).

    Looks like there is a fix for this bug out with the latest beta.

For those of you that install the beta software before the official release, please let us if you continue to have any issues via [EMAIL="[email protected]"][email protected][/EMAIL].
