First Gen HRM-Run drops out after 2-ish mins

Second run with the new 5X+ and it did the same thing on each run - all strap related data; ground contact time & balance, stride length, vert oscillation, etc. stops recording at around 2 mins 14 seconds. My wife's new 5+ (not X) is doing the exact same thing. Still getting heart rate, cadence, etc, but that is likely coming from the watch when it drops the strap out. Battery changed in our HRM Runs a couple weeks ago.

We both just upgraded from 5X's which worked fine with the straps.

OK, so I thought I'd do some digging on those fit files....

1: Downloaded ANT+ SDK latest and compiled
2: Converted FIt files to CSV
3: Converted UTC to time, and in turn seconds
4: Yes of two files with errors both die at the 2:09second mark for the running dynamics data.

Now what was interesting was the following event was seen in both file at the same time to lead to the reset/loss as below. I pinged beta team as unfortunately the definiton of what is Data Field 6, is not listed in the fit files.

Hi anyone know the garmin FIT file data schema? Specifically what Data category 6 is and its definition?

5: Ran android studio with my phone connected, and debugging on
6: Started an activity, capturing the phone event log over the 2min to 2min 20 second timeframe, and nothing specifically originated from the phone to create the error or verbose lof would have captured it
7: On off chance anyone is reading this far you might find amusing, I did, that the last song played on your fenix 5 plus is broadcast in the android verbose log, aka for the world to read.. I laughed when saw Depeche Mode in the middle of usual android error...

Yes know that, a data 6 event happens that kills recording data still shown on your watch after this while run live.

I removed music from issue as that's a different data category. Will need garmin now to say...

As fyi the open case at garmin for this is PSC-23192, if you need to quote it when talking to Garmin.

Just offered a replacement watch there but I said no for now as this is more a software issue from my view, so waiting for beta team to see if can resolve this week firstly.

I'm sure if this were universal it would be solved by now. I have never seen it on my watch + HRM-Run (red ring). I generally run with my phone (Galaxy S8+) connected to the watch for live track. I also use the combo running power data field. You can see my 2x 10 minute interval run this morning. No drops.

I wonder if Garmin has replicated this. If not, they might night need to capture some hardware from one of you guys.

Have the same issue with TWO different HRM TRI (old GEN and new GEN) and Fenix 5x Plus. Running Dynamics drop after a couple of minutes... HR is still tracked.

you need to CALL support and report it, and state add your user id to the existing case PSC-23192. I was told earlier today by garmin UK support there was a number of related cases that were under different ID's, and they were merging them together to ensure more attention of the topic.

P.S. i am now getting a warranty repalcement, when the new watch lands (i am off travelling for a few days), ill update here on if it resolves things.. i suspect not as assume its a software issue but if it does... - i have both hrm-run 1st gen, and the red one both have same issue, as does the tri, but garmin uk support stated this was not a user wide issue or it would be much higher up the issues list.... i may do a complete format of the watch later before my next run, as giving it back anyway when i repalce it, maybe a few watches had a bad formatting in the factory...who knows right...

It is probably a bug in the ble software that is exposed when something soecispe on the phone side is also present.

Tried another run this morning and cut the bluetooth connection before running. It works perfectly! See picture 1. Just to compare a previous run in Picture 2. The strange thing is, that - Garmin webpage does not show the same - see picture in post 103..ciq.forums.garmin.com/.../1392396.jpg
