First run with 5 Plus

First short run in a challenging environment (for F5X and less so for the FR 935) yielded really positive results. Of course, a single run is anything but proof but I’m really excited by Galileo accuracy at this stage.

Check out my running activity on Garmin Connect. #beatyesterday https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/2789670057
  • Looks good but why do you suggest it's due to Galileo accuracy, are you able to select that and deselect GPS and GLONASS?
  • I really want to see some vs tracks, because this looks like you went for a swim, ran through a building, and the track cuts corners straight in at few places. Are you on smart recording? On the upside, it doesn't look like a lot of elevation drift and the your stryd seems to have stayed connected the whole time.
  • It's worth bearing in mind that NY lives in an area which is incredibly challenging to GPS devices, because of the tall reflective buildings in the area, and for around there that does look a very nice track indeed. Keep us posted. I might need to spend some money if it goes on looking like that.

    When compared to his past posts (may months ago admittedly) of “Milwall Ward Running” activities on past Fenix watches he’s had (and FR 735 and 935 watches) this is looking way better than most :) (if you zoom in it’s clear this is “urban canyon” territory too)
  • I guess that's an advantage I have of running in a place that generally has wide open sky. The worst i have to deal with is a mountain in the way from time to time.

    I can’t speak for what the OP had turned on

    but you can select in the each sport profiles the option to use either GPS + GLONASS or GPS + Galileo. However by default it’s set to GPS only and you need to set it for each GPS activity profile
  • This was on GPS+Gallileo;

    I have had a few good tracks similar to this one with the FR935 but if we can now start thinking of the F5 Plus as being in the same ballpark that’s a big improvement.

    Hi NYanakiev7

    How would you compare the "Stryd pace" vs the "F5 Plus pace" ?
    Do you know if their some fields in the FIT files that could be used ? 'eg. [watch 1 with Stryd fit file - field pace vs F5 Plus fit file - field pace]

  • It seams to me like FR935 is still better. I just ordered 5plus titanium version that i will have to return i think. :( Or i will keep that one for all day use and my FR935 to run with...
  • Darre80 do you have runs done with the 935 on one wrist and the 5plus on the other which we can compare?? Would be very interesting if you have!

    How do you find the weight on the wrist vs the 935?
