If an AI failure gets you into the life threatening situation, something is wrong with your dive plan to begin with.
It should have been released at DEMA in November last year. Beneath The Sea was supposed to take place at the end of March but was cancelled due to COVID-19. Garmin just released a “water related” watch a few days ago.
I’d imagine that they’ll release the MK2 within the next month or 2 with the weather (in the USA) improving. Still, with the way they completely botched the MK1 and it’s development, dropping another $1k+ probably isn’t in the cards for most people.
I hope it comes soon. I'm using a Fenix 3HR with a bootleg app haha. I'm a free diver along with mountain biking / running so I'd like to upgrade in general but hopefully get the new features and maps that are actually useful for shore dives trying to find wrecks and what not.
Good sign they release anything with COVID, I was worried they would hold off any release til this clears up a bit.
I hope your right but they have release other products (Marq Captain) during this pandemic.
Did they, though?
Indeed, "American Magic Edition"
They also released another version of the bike safety light camera thing.
Maybe not the first products of their kind in the Garmin line up but the MK2 wont be either. For all we know, there wont be a MK2, right? From what I read, Garmin is very secretive and doesn't do "leaks" of new products so all these release dates are 100% speculative. I hope there is an MK2 though, I've been holding out over a year.
I read at reddit ( https://www.reddit.com/r/scuba/comments/ftgt53/garmin_descent_mk2/ ) that something is coming June or July. Now you've waited so long, you can't do anything for a month or two. I'd hate to buy something when the goal is so close.
