Garmin Support Poor? Issue with Track log data syncing

Been on the phone/email for the past few days re a track which has failed to sync to the online "Map" portal. Just keep being pointed to FAQ entries which are unrelated or have read 100 times.

The satellite "send" has worked fine with 10min polling showing, however the 15second a logging not so. Can see the required logging data on Inreach itself and when viewing the track on the earthmate app just can't seem to get this data across to the online "Map" portal.

This was first real test int he field, so have lost complete trust in the product and Garmin..

  • I don't have any options for importing. I have to use the sync tool and it transfers my tracks to the portal/explorer site. I don't use routes. I simply track my rides on the inreach as I would a regular GPS. Unlike a regular GPS I have to use the portal to access the track that I recorded. Something changed in the last few months on the portal to not work well with large track files, they sync just fine but now I get a error saying there is too much data use a filter when I try to export the most recent track. That error pops up when I have only the most recent track showing via said filters...

  • Sorry. Shouldn’t post before I have enough coffee. I was hoping that you would be able to sync the large track, then export it. Sounds like it syncs OK but will not export. That does not seem right. I’d open a support ticket, particularly if this worked recently. Web site is a work in progress - new bugs crop up from time to time. Also wondering if we’re both misinterpreting the error. Maybe it’s really failing to apply the filters in the first place?

  • Yeah the exporting has been the issue. I'm wondering if 5 years of very large track logs is causing an issue. I worked with support but they were useless.Their response was to use the filters. Worst support guy I have ever worked with.

I have always filtered the data down to the most recent tracks only and still have the issue. The most recent track will be the only track displayed but it still throws a generic error when I try to export a .gpx - "Error exporting data."

I tested old "very large" tracks that I have exported in the past. I filtered everything down to that date and it threw the same error. So something changed on their end as I have a perfectly fine .gpx file that I downloaded in the past with ZERO errors.

I'd be fine with starting fresh but I'd like to download all of the tracks first. Also there is no delete all button that I can find. Seems like you have to delete individual tracks which is absolutely nuts as you hit delete then it asks you are you sure. Try doing that 100+ times.

I gave permission for the specialty techs to access my account  and I received the same response: "Your data was reviewed by the software specialists.  They found that some very large track files are causing the too much data error.   That is why exporting only works when using the filter. They recommend that you use filters or delete some data."

They said exporting works using the filter but it does not. I've been a huge advocate of the inreach system and converted many others in the last year alone but this is bs and I'm about to pull the plug.
