disable 66i auto power off when unplugged from power?

Is there someplace to turn off auto power off when unplugged. On multi-day hikes I use a battery back to keep it charged up and sometimes it gets unplugged on accident which shuts it off and I loose tracks and friends and family loose the ability to track me. I also keep it plugged in when offloading and evertime we stop and shut the machine off it turns off the outlet and the garmin shuts off. This is a big design flaw to me having it default to auto power off when unplugged. Auto power off at 5% or 10% battery would have been a much better factory inclusion. So can you turn this off somewhere?

    If you haven't already done so maybe put in an enhancement request in the link provided above.

    I just did, the more that do the better chance it will get properly addressed as it's poorly implemented at the moment.

    I like your idea of different behavior at <10% battery so I've suggested 3 configuration options for external power removed:

    1. Auto power down with warning - default

    2. Auto power down with warning if battery <10%

    3. Always on

    it can be discussed if ext power logic handling is important for device which is basically designed as outdoor hand held gadget.

    However, when a provision for external power exist, this should be implemented fully.

    I agree this is the most annoying feature of my 66i. All of my older Garmin GPS devices have the option to stay on when external power removed. How can Garmin market these for overlander use when  every time you stop the car it powers off & it stops the inreach track log recording. IMO this is a huge safety issue for those wanting to claim you shouldn't have the option to disable. Remember if it was plugged in it was also charging so when disconnected it will still be running on battery power. Garmin needs to provide an update like was available in previous GPS devices to select Stay on when external power removed. Before we realized this problem we had lost an entire days of tracking of my spouse when he was in remote Africa & I was in the US. When the vehicle is turned back on the inreach tracking doesn't start up again.

    There are also many hikers who do hike with a USB battery pack to charge their GPS or phone, including us and many well know through hikers. If that accidentally becomes unplugged you lose the tracking when the device powers off.
