  • Automatic footpad calibration

There should be general feature request thread for the Forerunners, or there is one already that I haven't found yet...

Anyway, it would be nice to have the option to do an automatic calibration based on e.g. the latest 1 km of running with the footpad with high GPS quality. This would be good enough for most users and would adjust automatically to various conditions. It would also remove the need for manual calibration for most users.

A user wrote a utility that will perform this calibration on any run you have done if you were using your footpod and if you had GPS coverage:

Interesting but why not include automatic calibration in the Forerunner devices instead?

There are ways to automatically calibrate it. They work differently than how you envision, but Garmin did provide that feature.

A fully automatic calibration would be a useful feature, that's why I'm suggesting it here and I hope that the Garmin developers will consider it.
