Venu X1 - Golf Issue

I'm have an issue where mid golf round my watch will quit out of the activity fully. I have to relaunch the Golf activity, but when I do I lose all previous shot data (scores remain) and my GPS will not connect. I was forced to restart my watch, start a new round and then combine scores from 3 separate activities into one (happened twice in one round)... This was super frustrating. 

Is these something that can be done to prevent this from happening again?

It happened my last 2 rounds. 

  • Hey! When you are golfing and the watch gets out of the activity, does it power off then back on or does it kick you out to the main watch face?

    Does this happen with every golf activity or no?

  • I didn't do it for the first few rounds this season, but has done it the past two. The first time it only happened one. The second time it happened twice in the same round. 

    It kicks me to main watch face, and when i try to resume a round the GPS won't connect. I need to restart to get GPS going. 

  • This is happening to me on the latest beta right now as well, past 2-3 rounds, it will crash the app and discard the activity AFTER you save a score from the watch, and not always the first time, it could be hole 2 or 3 then once you save the score for that hole it will crash, workaround is to not save scores on the watch and only on the mobile app.

  •   I noticed that you both currently have BETA software v17.31 installed. Did you have this same experience prior to installing the BETA? 

  • I did not. Only with the 17.x beta line.

  • I bought my Venu X1 specifically for golf and used it for a round of golf on Monday. It worked great. Wednesday I did a software update to 17.33 and the golf activity is totally screwed up. 2 rounds since the update and no CT10 sensor recognition (even tho they are shown in settings). No auto advance. No automatic shot tracking. Doesn’t recognize a putt. Stuck on a hole. Completely stops golf and requires starting a new round. I select a hole and it displays the initial screen but freezes there. Basically useless! How could a software update mess it up this badly? Garmin WTF!! Please revert to the last version- this one is completely useless. I’ll have to go back to using to using my S50 until this issue is fixed.

  • Mine is crashing every other hole. There was a post 10 days ago from people on the beta version of this update with the same issues. Why the pushed the update anyway is beyond me and pretty ridiculous. 

    Update: the golf activity crashed after the 2nd and 4th hole of my round this morning. Both times it was after entering my score for the hole. There was no message or anything, the watch just went back to the home screen and the activity was completely gone. 

    Luckily it was good for the last 14 holes, but its definitely concerning, especially since those shots I was tracking are gone. I'll be writing my scores down now because if it crashes, everything is gone. 

  • Dear Garmin, 

    I have the exact same issue as the gentleman explained above. 

    Occurring since update, 17.33

    I have tried multiple reboots, hard (15sec) cash reboot, playing without scoring function, playing 9holes instead of 18 etc. al resulting in the same crashes. 

    I am experiencing an issue where the watch randomly logs me out of the golf function mid-round, resulting in a total loss of data. There is no consistency to when this happens, and I have only been able to recover my score once. Additionally, after a crash, the device consistently fails to re-acquire a GPS lock, making it impossible to resume the round. 

    Device: Garmin venu x1

    Software version: 17.33

    I look forward receiving a potential fix. 

    Love the garmin gold functionality but at this moment not really usable.
