Where can I change the elevation contour lines in the map from feet to meters?

in the settings I allready choose: meters.
Everything else is in meters, except the elevation contour lines.
in the iPhone App the Lines are in meters.
  • Changing the map setting from Kilometres to Statute switches the contours form metres to feet for me (see screen shots, the point on the map is the same for both scenarios).ciq.forums.garmin.com/.../1422296.png

  • Crispin_Ellisdon thank you for your help. sorry for my worse description. my english is not the best. i'll try again:
in the iPhone app changing the units works perfectly.
in the web app https://eur.inreach.garmin.com/Map when i change the units to meters instead of feet. everything is shown in meters, except the contour lines in the map direct. see attached image:

on the left, it is shown in meters. in directly in the map, the contour lines are in feet.

    kind regards, Mario
  • Sussamb: Sorry you're right, thanks for the info!
Crispin_Ellisdon: i think that it is not a problem with the units. i think it's its an contours map, with feet elevation lines. i just have to figure out, how to change it.
  • I’ve just had a go at trying to find a setting on the Explore website that switches the contours from feet to metres and I’m equally stuck. The only place you can change units is under the Accounts tab (see pic), but unlike the Explore App that setting doesn’t adjust the contours on the map to metres (it’s always in feet). That is frustrating, but at the moment that just seems to be the way it is.
  • The picture referred to in the post above (wouldn’t let me add it to that post for some reason).ciq.forums.garmin.com/.../1422418.jpg
  • Thank you very much for your Time and effort.
That‘s the settings I found too. Think it will get fixed in future time. Just thought I was too stupid to find find it. :-)

Hello Mistamb, currently the contour information on the explore website is baked into the topographic map tiles and they do not change when you change the Measurement Units. This will not change anytime soon but I can look into if there is a possibility to change it at some point in the future.
  • Thank you aaacarlson! I think/hope it will change in future, because the map changes in the mobile very well. AFAIK on opentopo maps, there are no contour lines baked in. Thought it is an own map, which is overlayed. Am I wrong?

Hey Mistamb, we would need to switch to vector tiles in the website to be able to have the units change as well. Currently this is not planned. However, I have brought this up to the appropriate teams as it would be a useful feature. Thanks!
  • Thank you very much aaacarlson! that would be nice. great that it works meanwhile on the mobile app. so planing "on the road" works well. :-)
