4 million steps?

So Garmin Connect thinks I did over 4 million steps today. My vivosmart and says only 11,000.Don't know what happened but i cant find any way to delete today's misinformation, which kind of skews my averages a bit. Any way to correct this? This on the mobile app as well, so it's obviously a server side error.

Here's an image of my steps in Garmin Connect. The 26 miles is from a bike ride today.

I had this problem today. A step count in excess of 2 million on Garmin Connect - though the charts for the hourly counts are correct - its only the total. Vivosmart step count is correct.

Normally I log my bike rides using Garmin Edge, but today I used Vivosmart.

I hope Garmin can fix the data error.. because the historical step count is going to be screwed, including Personal records. I shall phone support tomorrow.

    Vivosmart with firmware 3.50.

Problem still exists and i have not heard anything from Garmin, I guess they dont care enough for people who buy Garmin Vivosmart, Garmin Speed sensor and Garmin Candace ! perhaps because there is nothing else to sell to them?????

Same issue here, but only discovered it today since I haven't used the vivosmart for bike rides for quite a long time due to connectivity issues. Therfore I cannot confirm that this is due to the latest firmware or not.
Anyway, did a 20k bike ride today and as per GC I also like took 5.000.000 steps! My vivosmart itself shows only 5k steps (it's been a lazy day, I know!).
I am using the GSC10 on the bike.

Did anyone already got some feedback from Garmin on this issue?

I have the same issue. I've been e-mailing back and forth with Garmin forever regarding this. I haven't gotten any indication that this is a known issue that's being worked on. Instead I've been asked to reinstall the app several times and finally to send my vivosmart in for replacement. But I have a very hard time believing that this could be hardware related. Seems like a firmware or server issue considering how the issue started appearing for everyone at a specific time.

In my case I had just received a replacement unit because my screen was broken (dead pixels) and the new unit had fw 3.50. My old one had 3.40, so I can't confirm that it was caused by the firmware, but I haven't seen anyone else mentioning that it occurred on any other firmware version than 3.50.

It's kind of ironic how Garmin asked me to try to format the device and reinstall the firmware when I stated that my screen had damaged/dead pixels and when I now ask about a software issue they ask me to send the device in for replacement. Makes no sense.

It seems like it would be an easy fix too, considering that the steps per hour of the day are (seemingly) synced correctly. It's just the total steps that's messed up.

Did you guys report it to Garmin? I have a case going but they "claim" this is a very isolated issue, I keep pointing them to this forum but they dont seem to care, if you have the issue i strongly suggest you email them and let them know.

Has anyone resolved this problem in any way? Has anyone replaced a device with this issue? Garmin support asked me to send my vivosmart in for replacement, but I find it hard to believe that this is hardware related.

    4 million steps

I got the same problem today. After a 50 km bike ride with the speed sensor paired, I got 4 million steps. Last Sunday the sensor was not paired and I had no issues. In both cases the vivosmart had the 3.5 version of the firmware. So, I believe the problem is related with the speed sensor.

I contacted Garmin support today since I can't correct the number of steps in the Garmin connect.

    Still wrong!

And as of today, 9/30/2015, steps are still very wrong. When is this going to get fixed???

It seems to me this should be an easy fix and should have been implemented by now.

Ok this device for 2 days recorded over 60,000 steps while I was asleep this thread has been active for 6 weeks with no results so my recommendation is that we all request a refund if garmin fails to correct this
