New Garmin Connect is Terrible

I understand the need to continue to improve and innovate but this new Garmin Connect website is one of the worse designed websites I've seen in a long time. I don't know how in the world this got approved and rolled out in such a large company as Garmin but either the developers, product managers, or person who accepted the contract from the outside firm should be ashamed of themselves.

I've tried to think of some recommendations on what would make it better but I'm stumped on even where to being. At least the old site was someone easy to use and visually understandable. This new site is completely useless, ugly, and hard to navigate around in.

Someone in the organization needs to look at the competing websites or at a minimum buy a couple of UI/UX design books off Amazon and start over.
  • You do realize that XP is no longer supported by MS. Why should Garmin keep on having to develop and test for a old unsupported OS. Its a waste of their time when they should be concentrating all their efforts on fixing other issues.
  • "Plutocratic regime"?

For what it's worth, Walmart is running a sale this week on tin foil. May be worth stocking up.

The garmin watched and bike computers are great bits of kit, however the software, website and connectivity is completely appauling. I am continually having issues transferring data from my 910xt to garmin connect. The latest one is the reason I bought the watch in the first place, I completed an ironman, and will it upload to garmin connect. You can see it listed if you go to manual upload it, but it just spins out. Garmin express keeps saying transfer data and then data uploaded, but nothing on garmin connect.

I am currently using the traditional site as the new one is that bad. One question why introduce segments years after strava, and if you are surely you would make sure they work properly before launching them.

It's a difference if Garmin does no longer support WinXP or if they block Garmin Express to work anymore at all after an update - without notifying the user that the update will render the software and Vivofit dead on the OS.

Do you prefer the blue or the red pill?

Now I have a reason to abandon this. Buy buy Garmin Connect. Hello Endomondo.

I also had the problem with Garmin Express displaying it's uploading status but it didn't do anything. The solution here (Win7 x64) was to create rules in the Windows firewall to explicitly allow the Garmin *.exes.

"I hope someone at Garmin is paying attention to this thread. I have to agree with the flaws already mentioned. Here's my beef. The new Garmin Express has uploaded several of my workouts into oblivion. It uploads them from my FR 610, deletes them on the device, but they don't appear on Garmin Connect. Does anyone know if the data is stored locally on my laptop and archived there in some folder I can go look for?" by [email protected]

Bob, at least your data uploads. I have to upload manually (Forerunner 210, no ANT agent). BTW, classic can still upload my data very nicely.

The new Garmin Express is confusing and poorly designed. Had to go back to the "non-modern" version to find the upload button. Now, when I go to upload my runs I get the message "No new activities to upload". Something simple and easy to use has been replaced with a pretty but useless update...Sigh
  • You're not talking about the 'new Garmin Express' but Connect Modern. Manual upload is in Activities on Connect Modern, called Import. You might want to study the help pages http://connect.garmin.com/en-US/help/how-to/

I am also getting a number of these issues, as is my boyfriend. What appears to be happening is that there are two of me! One that is uploading data and the other appears to be a connection and I think that is why when I click on the activity I get that 'I do not have sufficient permissions', message as well. When I switch to the old view I can see activities as usual, but in the new view I can only see some of the older activities (the other me?!). I tried uninstalling things and re doing it, but all I've succeeded in doing, it seems, is deleting all edits to my activities (names, comments etc), so although they are there navigating through them is virtually impossible! Everything seemed to go wrong when I installed Garmin Express which took away my Ant Agent, so I have reverted to that. If anyone knows any more about where to get answers or help, then much appreciated. This needs sorting!
