New Garmin Connect is Terrible

I understand the need to continue to improve and innovate but this new Garmin Connect website is one of the worse designed websites I've seen in a long time. I don't know how in the world this got approved and rolled out in such a large company as Garmin but either the developers, product managers, or person who accepted the contract from the outside firm should be ashamed of themselves.

I've tried to think of some recommendations on what would make it better but I'm stumped on even where to being. At least the old site was someone easy to use and visually understandable. This new site is completely useless, ugly, and hard to navigate around in.

Someone in the organization needs to look at the competing websites or at a minimum buy a couple of UI/UX design books off Amazon and start over.
  • I have to agree to the previous post. I recently acquired a Garmin device (Edge 500) partly because I really liked the old Garmin connect website.... what a disappointment with the change. To add insult to the injury I have been unable to do activity uploads from the new connect page, I get error messages (my husband is experiencing similar issues with his Forerunner 220 on his computer). So not only it's unpleasant to navigate it's also useless. My big worry is, what happens when the old site disappears?

To be fair, I'd probably get used to the website, if only I could use it. I'm mostly annoyed all around because now, not only Garmin express stopped being functional on my vista computer (and I given up understanding why) but I can't use what seems will then be my only option to communicate with my device when the old website will be taken down. That's not giving me confidence in the Garmin product and makes me and my husband, as Garmin consumers bitter at the brand.

+1 its terrible that the segments page still doesnt work and the whole site is so user unfriendly! Since two month or so i have the message: "The leaderboard is still being created for this segment. Please check back later." Thats not acceptable.

I am using Strava now all the time :-( sorry Garmin.

the garmin devices for biking are top, no issues to claim for the garmin edge 1000. the software release are 5 Steps backwards, the performance is not acceptable. The whole software-solutions does not work correct, the functionality is just bad. The compatibility to other state of the art solutions (e.q. Strava) is not given. I see only two chances: replace the IT-Team or sell the Software-rights to a company who has knowledge as a software provider.

I've just seen the new layout and it the first thing i thought was: My browser must have crashed.

It is really hard to navigate and almost everything seems to be misplaced. Why on earth would a company throw in a new interface with even more bugs, instead of finishing the previous version and for one time have something that can be called bug-free or at least running smoothly.

While the Garmin devices, on the hardware side, are not bad at all, the software is just a mess.
The Connect website, as well as the connect app and the desktop software are unreliable, badly implemented and hardly working at all. The design lacks any common sense and is just not handy.
Take the mobile connect app (android) for example. Why the heck would I clutter the interface into separate widgets, when their single function is to serve as a link to another screen with no additional information whatsoever.
Any teenager could code a better app nowadays.

Either there is going to be a big change in your IT department and people learn how to do their job, or, as SCHMI30 said, get a proper third party support with the respective know how. The current state is just embarassing.

The people who made healthcare.gov need some work, and they could do a better job. Normally, when one creates a website, it has beta testers. Did they not do that here?
Each and every thing is wrong with it.
  • It's all clear to me now. They killed it 4 years ago. I don't know these decision-makers, but, really, they are idiots.

    Completely agree...and then some.

I hope someone at Garmin is paying attention to this thread. I have to agree with the flaws already mentioned. Here's my beef. The new Garmin Express has uploaded several of my workouts into oblivion. It uploads them from my FR 610, deletes them on the device, but they don't appear on Garmin Connect. Does anyone know if the data is stored locally on my laptop and archived there in some folder I can go look for?

@BOB.... I have the same problem with my FR 410.

@bob, I am having similar issues. I use express to upload the activity but then I can only see it (partially) if I go to GC via express. I am not able to see the complete activity details because 'I do not have sufficient permissions', even though my privacy settings are set accordingly.

Is someone from Garmin reading this!? please assist!

Very frustrating, the old garmin connect was just fine..

Not using the site too much yet, but I was planning to get some garmin products for my sons who are just about starting to need this kind of service. Unfortunately the plan is now on hold and other solutions will get attention as site seems to stop working with Firefox garmin connect plugin available for linux users. We have android phones that are not compatible with mobile connect app and windows and mac desktop is out of question. Is is very disappointing change in service and I cannot trust that the old website will be available in future.
