Privacy Setting to Prevent Bike Theft

It would be very helpful if Garmin Connect could allow us to set up a privacy zone around our home so we can make our rides public and participate in segments.
Without such a feature we cannot make our rides public without making the location of our home public. Then, it is just too easy for people to use Garmin Connect as a go-to place to find out where expensive bikes are. If someone were to find out that their home was broken into because its location is posted for everyone to see, that would seriously hurt Garmin Connect's chances of succeeding.
  • If no activity details are shown, but the activity shows up on the leaderboard it will be impossible to identify cheaters. Eventually, when Garmin gets around to allowing us to flag cheaters, this will be necessary.

It is already pretty easy to cheat on Strava, and that service has the blackout home zone mentioned on this forum.

Maybe let segment owners decide whether showing full activity details is mandatory to participate in the leaderboard?

It may be easy to cheat, but it is also equally easy to flag a cheat. The blackout zones are only in effect for specific areas, so unless the countryside is littered with blackout zones, the data is visible for others to see.

What would be the point in that? People that want on the leaderboards for segments still won't want to give activity details, and people that cheat will just take all of the segments where the details don't have to be shown.

You don't need to be a Smug Dick about it. A link saying check this would suffice. It' a cluster F on here trying to find anything.
