Garmin Connect / Upload not working

It appears that Garmin wanted to do an update to the manner in which the "Upload" function was accessed. Unfortunately, at least in my experience, they seemed to have screwed up what was a perfectly functioning feature before this supposed update. All I get now is a redirect to a page that informs me that I need to update my software and re-sync. Fine. I did that and, surprise; when I go back to the home page and go to "Upload", I once again get redirected to that same page. I'm curious as to whether this is something only I'm experiencing or a known issue. If the latter, does anyone have a solution to get past this nuisance?

I got the same thing, so I installed Garmin Express on my Win7 PC. When Express *finally* found my FR110 and tried uploading, it gave me a "Garmin server error" message. It appears Garmin's data servers for Garmin Connect are offline, hence why Express and the Upload button are not working.

One of the advanced members on another thread claimed Garmin stopped supporting the Garmin Communicator plug-in, although I find it still available for download on Garmin's download page. So I'm hoping it truly is a server issue and once it's back online we'll be able to upload through both methods.

I've seen on other threads that in "Modern Garmin Connect", you click on the 3 bars icon, click on Activities, then click Import. This is supposedly the "modern" equivalent to Upload.

However, as MICHAELSDOWNEY notes, Garmin is experiencing a server connection issue right now. I think all methods of upload/import are going to fail until those servers are ready to receive new data.

You should be able to plug in your device and copy the FIT files to a folder on your computer for safe-keeping in the mean time, just so you don't lose any of your activity data.

Same problem here . Was uploading with classic Garmin easily as of 5/20/14 . Got redirected when I tried today , installed Garmin Express then searched for way to upload in " modern " Garmin . Could not find a meaningful path forward . Frustrating . I have 5 active Garmin devices .

I have the same problem. As soon as my Garmin start to upload, it stops saying it can't be synced! The pervious version of the software worked perfectly! So Garmin please fix the issue asap!

Works fine for me. It didn't work before I installed the "Time Zone" update. Then it worked perfectly. I'm on the latest Windows 8.1 with FireFox 30.0 Beta.

Same problem. Would be nice if Garmin posted that they were working on the issue, at least.
  • No way José!
GC gets lost in Firefox & IE!!!!
Garmin for a while has an incomprehensible strategy. And they're having rookies work on the website. I think they dropped a lot of first hours personnel.
Guess they have problems with shareholders.

    Workaround Found!

For the Mac get Garmin Training Center. (google it)
after install, download the data from your device to Garmin Training Center
From Training Center upload to Garmin Connect (File/Send"xxxx" to Garmin Connect)
Login using your regular Garmin Connect user name and password.

    Works for Edge 305
    -canoezoo
  • Working ok today (after complaining yesterday). I also used Garmin Express to update timezone (whatever that is). Afterwards it worked again.
