Garmin Connect Upload Failure

I am using a Dakota 20 and have been uploading to Garmin Connect for some time.

I had some USB connection issues with my home computer (USB hub seems to have failed) hence connected the unit directly and it mounts.

The issue is that the current GPX file will not upload to Connect, either manually or by selecting the unit.

I brought the Current GPX file into BaseCamp and tried to upload from there - this failed. I therefore deleted the current GPX file, as I assume it was in some way corrupted and following a bike ride have tried to upload again - still failed.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

Hello, I'm using a foretrex 301 and like every one here, it's impossible to upload my activities to garmin connect, my device is detected but no activities. I can upload to other sites like calculitineraires.fr but not to GC.
My friends with other devices like edge 200 have the same problems since last week.

I am having the same problem that others are describing. I have tried cleaning up the .gpx file using GPSVisualizer to no avail. I cannot upload it manually either. I just tried installing and using Garmin Express, as a poster recommended above (from Garmin), but during the setup of that software, it informed me that Garmin was having trouble with their servers.

GARMIN - having trouble with your servers isn't the biggest deal ever. It happens. INFORM YOUR USERBASE. You probably want to save face, but you're wasting everyones time. I know I've been trying to deal with this for well over an hour now, believing that the problem was on my side, when in fact it's on your side, and I'm betting you're well aware of it.

Be kind to your users, and put a message up on connect stating that the upload feature isn't working. Give us something. This is horrible customer service and honestly I expect more out of Garmin.

Only bit I disagree with is expecting more from Garmin. When have Garmin actually informed their userbase promptly without having to be dragged kicking and screaming to admit there's a problem.

Only other company more loathe to admit there's a problem is Apple. Maybe Garmin think that's the secret of their financial success. Ignore the problems and focus on up-selling the next upgrade product. Just subscribed to annual Strava membership. Thanks Garmin for pushing me in the right direction. Love the heatmap features and the simple fact it actually works!
  • one more that cannot upload to connect here, using dakota 20 and manual upload. Just gives an error

Has Garmin made any statement about this issue yet? have just found this thread about the issue I have been having this week trying to upload my gpx files post training, and thinking all along the issue was my end. Clearly not!!
    Not happy wasting time.
  • I am the developer of the Fit File Repair Tool. You can use the Repair Tool to convert gpx into tcx or fit files. I tried to upload a gpx file with the Repair Tool's internal uploader to Garmin Connect and was successful. The Fit File Repair Tool uses the fit file format to do uploads to Garmin Connect.

This doesn't fix Garmin's current issues with gpx files - but if you are interested in getting to know the Fit File Repair Tool as a workaround to this problem, please have a look at the trial version of the tool which is available here: http://fitfilerepairtool.info.

    All the best

  • Mathias, thanks for that, does your software work on a Mac?
  • Unfortunately the Repair Tool requires a PC. Of course you could run it on a Mac using a Virtual PC software like Parallels Desktop.

Same here. Dakota 20, last successful upload to GC on 04-06. Converting the track with gpsies.com (suggestion of Garmin Support to "solve" upload-problem with tracks edited in Basecamp) into gpx / tcx didn't help, neither deleting the extension-tag (as mentioned in other posts).
Start to feel pretty disappointed with Garmin "support" :/
  • Another user with the issue. Can not import my GPX activities to connect since some days.
