GPSMAP 62S - memory card issue

I have been trying to install my Garmin TOPO US 24K Southeast map on my memory card I installed in the unit. The memory card is a 32GB micro card that functions perfectly. I know about the 4GB limit on the map file transfer and have tried everything from as large of a file I can cover without exceeding the 4GB limit to the smallest of files. Sometimes the map installer gets to the end and errors out, most of the time the map installer finishes without issue. I can see the Garmin map folder and file of correct size by looking at it in windows but I cannot find the map to enable it in the device.:confused:

What gives, has anyone experienced this issue? I need some help here before I decide to use this device for target practice! :mad:

I still suspect the card.

The OP says the card works in other devices

I have tried this card in other devices I have and it works perfectly in all of them.

so I suspect card insertion or the 62S :D

Yes, I saw that :p

But it's not unknown for some makes of memory cards not to work correctly in Garmin GPS.

Cheaper fix than assuming it's the GPS, but you may well be right :)

I haven't seen that for about 8 years when Sandisk Ultra microSD cards (of that era) wouldn't work in 60Cx/60CSx/76Cx/76CSx units.

BTW I have a boat load of old cards. I even have the original 128MB one that came with my 76CSx all those years ago :) I don't think I ever used it.

Also I have about 10 cards in various devices around the house. Hmmm, maybe I'm a tech geek :D

On my 62s, I have Garmin's Topo US 24k West on a 16 Gb Sandisk. This map is divided into two files and is located in the folder on the card called "GARMIN". Also in this folder is City Navigator 2014.
I have also had third party maps located there as well and no problems noted.
