Calendar View

Is there any way to use different color for different activities in the new calendar view. Everything went blue with the new redesign and it's a pain in the a.. to differentiate and find particular activities in the current calendar state. Any way to bring back the old colored activities calendar?

    New calendar = total disaster

Guys sorry, but I can't believe how you totally f.... up the calendar. From something that was well arranged and where one could easily recognise only by colour what one did to something where one can't see and recognise anything. It's total disaster and you focused on crap - what's the point of dragging activities? That's useless. You must be nuts there. jd

Is anybody hearing at Garmin?? April's fool has passed! You are two weeks delayed! This new calendar is a bad joke. It is impossible to distinguish different activities and bleak colors in white background makes the calendar non-functional. Even the naming of each activity has dissapeared. The fancy feature of dragging activities must be some kind of joke. 'Garmin' guys, fix this ASAP. Seriously, if this is not fixed soon, I have no reason to keep on using it. The old calender was the best feature of Garmin Connect...

While I'm not terribly excited about the colour palette the added functionality ROCKS!

    Filtering!!!
    Totals by activity type!!!
Much quicker access to the various additions to the different types!!!
Ability to add new items in detail to the calendar without wandering off to different web pages!!!
Dragging Workouts to change the date!!!

Better yet there is a framework here for continued development.
A single view of the application from the calendar rather than a disconnected view across multiple web pages makes a lot more sense.

So I disagree the New Calendar != total disaster and it's a much better use of development resources than last months heat maps.

I've got a long list of Functions like editing activities, graphing, reporting/activity analysis, bulk export, training analysis TSS/IF, custom/shared training plans, etc I'd love to see but this is the first positive update since the half implemented Training Plans (function but no data) in January.
  • I have never logged onto these forums, but this change to the calendar has me hunting for a way to either go back or find some answers.

I used the calendar as my main source of information. All my activities were there, color coded based on it being a swim, bike, run, or other activity. I would name the activities in a format that gave me pertinent information at a glance. I could easily add a manual activity if I chose not to wear one of my Garmin devices. While the weekly mileage totals were useless if you do a lot of different activities, the time totals were nice.

I am now presented with a table of activities that are all the same color, yes there is a little icon to identify the activity, but it was so much more clear before. The weekly totals are still there but no more useful. I have the ability to drag and drop an activity...but why would I even care to do that? I did it on a certain day and I want it to remain on that day. Adding an activity looks to be easy, but if you want to view the pace you can't see it...you are only left with "quick edit" like options, if you want to add details you have to go to another page, so no added functionality. The left hand side of the screen, next to the calendar, is taken up by a tool bar that is completely useless to me and can't be closed.

A previous commented about filtering and totals by activity type. While being able to view total by activity type is nice with the drop down, I ONLY log activities so there is no filtering. If I wanted totals before I could easy do to the analyze tab and generate any kind of report I could want. Such tools SHOULD be in a place separate from the calendar.

I have been using Garmin Connect for years and for the most part I have liked the incremental changes made. This was a big step backwards though. I am all for change and making your site more functional, but you have destroyed the calendar for me. I found it much better than Training Peaks and while WKO+ is more useful for really in depth analysis Garmin Connect was always the first place I updated, looked for past activities, and kept track of simple metrics. You either have to roll back to the previous version until the new one has at least the same functionality of the old, or implement activity type color coding and better activity input immediately.

Hey, all those totals, filtering, etc.. were available before through the 'reports' tab. Also, why would you need to drag workouts to change the date? Your watch uploads them to the date of the activity. Also, how many activities are you adding 'in detail' that didn't require you to wear your watch? Prior to this update, all you had to do was manually add an activity - from the calendar page - and add all pertinent info and notes. If you were adding HR manually, you were doing it wrong.

    Exactly!

Okay, will disagree with you here. I would add "in detail" because if I decided to do a treadmill run, I'd have a time, mileage, and HR, but lack pace. If you add "in detail" you get a pace calculated for you...excellent!

Regardless, this new format is a large step backwards.
  • I just want to add my voice to this also.

I totally dislike the new calendar.

The lost of the different background colors per activity-type on the calendar is the biggy that I dislike.
This is because I'm a triathlete and I liked looking at the week/month and seeing through the background colors how my week/month was made up of the different disciplines (swim, bike, run, gym, etc). Now they are all non-bold blue font?!?!

I also liked how the old calendar used the title for the activity, which as the title on the calendar.

The stuff on the left column is wasted space for me. I don't use any of that.

You can no longer click on the activity on the calendar to bring up the detail. Instead it takes you to the preview and you have to click on the 'Details' tab down the bottom. I never use these previews; just take me straight to the details when I click on an activity.

I am only 5 months into using Garmin Connect having come from Polar Pro Trainer and this is having me look into going back and options with other programs.

The new calendar brings no new functionality. It's just a change of view that is a big backwards step.

Bring back the old calendar it was fine just as it was!!

  • I also HATE the new calendar for all the reasons already listed. I liked each activity having a distinctive color. I won't list all the problems because they have been described well. I agree, it is a big step in the wrong direction.
  • the new calendar view is useless to me!!!

is there an option to revert to the old one? It was just fine!

    PLEASE!!

Hi guys, it was really good joke. hahahaha...
And now, please, rollback the the old version of calendar. This parody for functionality and lucidity of the old version IS NOT funny.
