GPSMAP 62S Shutting down for no reason

My GPSMAP 62S will shut down randomly for no reason. This happens with rechargeable batteries and Alkaline batteries. I'm running the current software version 4,50. What can be done to fix this?
  • Just "rolled back" to v4.3 from 4.5!

Garmin Australia Tech Support replied on Friday requesting to rollback to V3.00

For me it would seem that V4.30 seems to be the last stable version that is working correctly.

The Tech Support guy said he would feedback the shutting down bug with V4.40 and V4.50 to the software developers.

It will be interesting to see how long it takes them to provide a new update ????

  • Just saw that v4.60 is now available for the 62s. Among other things: "Fixed potential shutdown when searching for adventures". I don't use adventures - my unexpected shutdown appears to be related to to the use of Birdseye imagery.

My experience: the shutdown are always when I'm looking for a path on any vector map.

Version 5.40 and above: when the shutdown occurs, normally lost about 200-300 meters from the tracklog.

Version 5.60: I lost more 40 kms from the tracklog

Garmin Engineers: can you repair the shutdown problem once and for all????

    Bye
  • You’ve posted this in an old thread that should have been closed earlier and also in the Garmin Connect forum which has nothing to do with your query. Sorry but unfortunately as yet there isn't a forum here for device issues like this. Please contact Product Support
