Shoe Tracking - Garmin Connect

Need I say more, it´s been years since folks first brought this up as a much needed feature for Garmin Connect. I am still using another website in addition to Garmin Connect JUST to track my shoes´ mileage. Come on, it shouldn´t be that complicated to add this type of feature. You already have the best customer service out there. It would be great if you could also make sure that you are the ones providing the best software for using your own products. Thanks.

    Workaround

Since Garmin looks like a don't care for tracking shoes mileage, I started to use Course to track my shoes mileage and it works just fine.

You can create as many courses as you want (I have one for each shoe I want to track). After uploading of new data and adding the usual Activity name, I also select the shoes under Course selection. Whenever I am curious about shoe mileage, I export the data into Excel (from Analyze - Activities page) and then get a summary for specific shoes using SUMIF function. Nice and easy. Note that you do not need to export all activities all the time - just the new ones from the last time you did it.

This will work unless you need to use Courses for anything else (I have not found the other purpose of Course field in my activities yet :D).

I opened a case with Garmin support about this, and they directed me to add my request via http://www.garmin.com/ideas

All we can do is flood them with requests. I know from my work in Customer Support that the "sqeaky wheel gets the grease".

Please give these people more feedback.
  • That would be a useful feature...

There is an iPhone app called Shoedometer that works well and links directly to Garmin (although it brings down all activities, not just running)

Thanks for the tip. I have also send a request to add this function. Let's hope they hear us...
  • Add shoe tracking feature. I have to use other sites and RunKeeper.

I've used RunKeeper for years and Training Peaks for months. But with the new 620 watch, I've synced up and put all my data with Garmin Connect. I want to shed the other sites, but shoe tracking is one of the modest features I want to keep. Please add it to the options!

I came to the forum to specifically request this... I see I am definitely not alone!! This shouldn't be difficult to do at all - RunnersWorld does it so well. I know all the runners out there would love this feature!
