I also bought a tempe to RECORD the temperatures along my ride with a Oregon 450 on my bike, HOW it was advertised. I can't believe it. Fix this Garmin!

I have been having an on-going dialogue (via email) with Garmin Support's team. Here is my most recent response:

    Dear Brian J Bacher,
Thank you for contacting Garmin International.

I would be happy to assist you with this.
I have contacted on engineering department and will look into this further. I will contact you when I know anything more on this issue.
I appreciate your patience in this matter.
Please let me know if you have any further questions.

I don't know if this is their way of putting me on hold, or if they are genuinely working on the problem . . . . but I plan on giving them a week or so to get back to me before I start asking again.

Thanks for posting. At least that's better than the previous response
Unfortunately, our outdoor devices do not save temperature information and as a result it is not something that can be viewed in BaseCamp at this time. If you feel this is a feature that you would like to have added, please submit your idea at the following link www.garmin.com/ideas. This portal allows you to submit your idea directly to our innovation experts. "
  • Also, what they say in that response is not true. The GPSMAP 62 does write the temperature to the tracklog...

The GPSMAP 62 does write the temperature to the tracklog...

Thanks for the additional info. Hopefully the Oregon guys (must be a different team from the 62S people) will fix this soon.

Many of us have already informed to Garmin the problem ... they know that the problem exists, it is clear that they are doing nothing to solve it.

... they know that the problem exists, it is clear that they are doing nothing to solve it.

With respect I don't think that is clear at all.

This thread was started 9/23/2012. Today is 10/5/2012. That's 12 days. In the corporate world that is nothing. Also I wouldn't expect a public announcement about a fix. This

I have contacted on engineering department and will look into this further.

is about as much as you'll get.

If you look at the recent Oregon x50 release history

    5.80 - 6/14/2012
    5.90 - 8/30/2012
    6.00 - 9/21/2012

you'll see a release approximately every 6-8 weeks.

A big company like garmin may not have this type of failure ... Some basic tests pleeeease !!!!!

In 6.00 firmware version they say: "Fixed potential issue with reporting tempe temperature data."

Someone in "Oregon software team" test this point before release the version?

They have no possible justification !!!!!

    Change History

Changes made from version 5.90 to 6.00:

Improved map drawing at low zoom levels.
Fixed inability to edit archived tracks.
Fixed ability to use NMEA depth for waypoints and tracks.
Fixed display of geocache coordinates with non-default map datum.
******** ¿FIXED? POTENTIAL ISSUE WITH REPORTING TEMPE TEMPERATURE DATA.***********
Fixed overlapping position text for right to left languages.

Changes made from version 5.80 to 5.90:

Added Adventure support with latest version of BaseCamp.
See TrailTech (http://garmin.blogs.com/softwareupdates/2012/08/garmin-adventures.html) for more information.
Added support for new tempe sensor.

    Garmin reply me.....

We have identified an issue, and we are implementing a solution for the next software release. Unfortunately, we are not allowed to comment on when software updates will be available.
