Personal records

Hi all
Now I like the personal record deal on the dashboard, but..
It is only my personal best running results and no cycling records.
Anyone know how to get that, or is that not yet possible in connect.?

    Hi there,

will there be a possibility to configure the PR tabs? It seems, that it is only made for running activities, but i have an edge 800 and do cycling (mtb).

Hope you garmin devs will include some more options an that, because this feature is really interesting!

    Greetings

This has already been covered on the Garmin Blog:

    "Dumb" PR-finder

I think the feature is quite cool, but very version 1.0-like.
This need to be corrected if I should use it:
    * My current Garmin 5K PR is 26:53 min (5:23 min/km) while having a 10K at 4:10 min/km and 21.1K at 4:30 min/km ... Reason: I don't run 5K unless I use it as a relaxing warmup. Why doesn't it take one of my 8K or 10K runs, and divide into a 5K run. Ex. a 10K run at 4:10 min/km making a 20:50 min run at 4:10 min? That's only fair - isn't it?
    * Or maybe even - like Nike+ system - taking the fastest 5K part of my runs for making this my best 5K. Ex. if my last 5K split on a 10K run, is at 4:08 then credit me for a 5K at 20:40?
    * If you run 5.1K at 21:41 min, your 5K PR should be 21:15 min, by using same principle as above ...
    * Why can't you make your own PR-goals? I would like to have it to find my best Ironman, 180K TimeTrial, 15K run, 50K run, longest cycling distance, 1K swim, 3,8K swim etc. etc.
  • Cycling results has not yet been implemented.

Fully agree! I was wondering why they implemented this feature the way they did. It's quite inflexible. Please improve, Garmin! Thanks.

Love the personal records as well. What a need idea.
However, apparently there is a display issue with Firefox (14.0.1) as you can see below.
It works OK with IE, but my preference is Firefox.
    Any advise?
  • @Chenke, the firefox compatibility is quite dated with Connect and also safari:

"Garmin Connect is tested on and supports official releases of Internet Explorer 7 and 8, Firefox 3.5, and Safari 4. While the site may work with older versions of these browsers, or beta versions of these (and other) browsers, we do not test for these versions and therefore do not officially support them."

Version 3.5 of firefox is from Jan '09. It may be worth submitting this as an issue in one of the forums relating to browser compatibility or maybe the Feature Request forum. In the meantime I'd suggest using a different browser to view the PRs (I personally use chrome and can understand why you don't really want to go back!!)

I think it's a great idea having the PRs on Connect, it brings it up to date with things like Endomondo which have PRs. It's just a shame that it's only for running at the moment.
Fingers crossed it'll be implemented for cycling soon!

@BUNCIEBABES, Thanks for the suggestion. I can confirm that Chrome does display personal records correctly too.
So it's a compatibility issue with Firrefox I suppose.

it would be nice to be able to create different Personal Records. E.g. there is a longest distance which is cool but we may want to put some cycling and running records or longest time or "strange" distances like best 8K (there are plenty of 8K races down here).

It would also be very nice if the type of lap, as defined in the Workout Section, would be usable in the same way for the personal records. For example, the workouts make it possible to define a Warm Up and a Cool Down, both are saved as a specific lap. The distance moved during these laps is taken into account for the personal record.
If it would be based on only the intervals, then the distance defined in the interval (5km, 10km, Half-Marathon) could 1:1 be determined and reflected as a possible personal record.
