Wow! Google map is back...

I noticed some change when I signed in GC just now.
There's a drop down to choose between Bing map and Google map.
Unfortunately, it doesn't work properly with Google Chrome browser and I had to use Safari. It doesn't work in Player mode either.

Thank you Garmin for listening to the customers and bringing back Google map. Please make it work in Player mode and with Chrome browser.

With Chrome just use the Gfix plug-in, that's been working fine for months now.

I've been using the Gfix as well but, on the updated Garmin Connect, it doesn't matter whether the Gfix is enabled or not, I guess.

I haven't been too critical of it yet, but my dashboard view and specific activity views seem to work in Chrome. What doesn't work for you in Chrome?

The problem seems to be specific to Chrome for Mac. I'm on a PC now (yes, Chrome of course) and I don't see the problem that I saw on my MacBook.

doesn't work via safari. work with Firefox

Interesting. For me, it didn't work with Chrome but it did with Safari. I haven't tried FireFox. That is on a MacBook with OS X Leopard BTW.

Looks like the plug-in is no longer working. I do see one BIG negative. You no longer have the "rip the map to it's own window" feature.:(

I share the pain. That's exactly the same problem that I saw in Chrome on Mac. Have you tried any other browsers?

in safari browser use User Agent / Firefox 4.0.1 Mac :)
  • I use Chrome at work (now) on a Windows 7 Pro machine and I can't see the maps. I use Chrome at home on a Windows 7 machine and it works fine. Strange.

    What are green paths?

What are green paths on google map through garmin connect?
    Pedestrian walks? Recorded running routes?

That's the google 'bicycling' overlay. I haven't searched for specifics on how they get there, but my assumption is that they are rated to be 'good for cycle traffic'.

You can turn that overlay off and see the normal google map by hovering over "map" and unchecking Bicycling, although it doesn't seem to stick for me.

Has anyone figured how to get the "Open Map in a Separate Window" feature to work on Google maps like before the update?
  • Works fine for me in Chrome under Win 7 32 bit without any "fix"

Suggest check your Chrome installation is up to date. Hit the spanner in the toolbar then "About Google Chrome" and it will check the version and update automatically if need be.
