Connect will not upload activities from Edge 800

Connect recognises my Edge 800 but will not let me upload the activities from it. The blue upload "progress" bar shows up for a few seconds as a blue line and then disappears. No data is uploaded.

I can download activities to Training Centre with no problem and also upload to RWGPS.

Any suggestions as to how to resolve this would be appreciated. I have hard re-set twice.

Hello Garmin. Are you there? Are you able to help with this?
I still cannot load anything on to GC. I can load onto TC and other software no problem. It would be useful to use GC but why is it not working???
I have hard reset and deleted all old files but no joy.

Together with a very dodgy HR strap (I am on my 4th in 9 months) I am deeply unimpressed with the reliability of Garmin products.:(

The 705 does not make a GPX file when recording a ride, only TCX files.

I assume you are trying to do a "Manual Upload" into GC using your older GPX files from your computer.

GPX files do not always have a date and time (timestamp) recorded with each coordinate and elevation. GPX files with no date and time cannot be manually loaded loaded into GC.

If your 705 will load rides into TC then those files are in the correct format and they should also load into GC. If not there might be something wrong with your GC account.

In TC you can right click a ride and Export it as a TCX file to a folder of your choice. Then try to manually upload that tcx to GC. Should work or there is something wrong with your GC account.

    Thanks Datezz.

Only just seen your post. In fact I am using an Edge 800 as per the original post.

I am connecting it to GC and hitting "Upload". GC finds the device and I then hit "Upload all new activities". The blue "Loading" line shows up on screen but does nothing for a few minutes with the message "Reading activities from Edge 800 please wait".

This just hangs until the blue line and message just disappear. Nothing has been uploaded. Same every time.

I have hard re set twice and deleted the entire history but it still will not load.

Are you able to upload to other applications, such as Training Center, successfully?

Yes. Any other application I use eg TC, Golden Cheetah, RWGPS allow me to upload no problem.
  • Hi Alexd3, did that get resolved? if so, please let me know how, I think I have the same problem.
I go out for a ride with my new edge 800. At the end I hold reset. Go home and connect GC to upload. Click on “load new activity” and GC tells me that no activity is found, click to upload from the memory card and I get the neverending blue progress line. So the only solution is the manual upload, navigate to the activities folder and select the flt file. Why GC is not uploading automatically from my edge 800? It is doing it from my FR305.

Got exact same issue, I am new user to uploading at Garminconnect, and have just purchased an Edge 800.
  • Normally I'd suggest setting IE for compatibility view and add *.garmin.com to the list of trusted sites in IE, but it looks like the OP is using a Mac w/ Safari. At this point, I'd suggest calling Garmin Support for additional help with this issue.

    Then call Garmin support.

I had hoped Garmin support was supporting via this fora so I did not have to phone them.

I still have the option to return the edge800 to the dealer, and the way things are not working to well plus limitations I probably can not live with. I thing that will be the result.

Had hoped for a more developed an configurable product where the displays was not so limited as it is on the Egde800.
On my old polar cs200 device I had all my data at hand.
On the Edge800 I have to limited what I can see in spite of the much bigger screen, why make such a device and limit what we can put on the screen of data???
