Facebook share with Map thumbnail and Stats

Runkeeper has a very pretty sharing with friends on facebook link. It contains a small summary of the stats fo the run and the thumbnail of the map run. I wish you could do the same, it makes it look better than just a link on facebook. we do use these things to decorate our feeds with content you know. thank you and keep the goo work.

European users want to see their link with kilometers instead of miles.
perhaps with the announcent 2.0 version this will be better as well.

    let's hope.

The icon the FB friend sees could be on the face of a representation of the garmin product the person used to log the run.
Tiny MAP and then 3 stat screen alternating on a 2 image GIF.
That may help garmin move from more product too...
  • I agree - current facebook sharing is very poor. It really just posts a link. It would be much nicer to see a little map like strava does. Also it posts in Miles even though my account and device are all set to metric. Before I could update the text but now I can't.

Might as well keep it going. Nike sharing is so cool making the necessary changes is stupidly simple. Come on Garmin, get it in gear.

I concur. I want to see a map of my run on Facebook. A Garmin logo somewhere on the post is fine. Please give us a little map.

While a map on Facebook wasn't a main feature for my first GPS watch purchase, it will be a must in the future. Just saying that in a year or two, if Polaris or Nike or some other corp have improved their gps and have a map for Facebook well when most features are equivalent the "little" things become the selling points.
  • I see the Garmin connect site is doing a complete makeover. MAybe by some miracle they look at the facebook sharing.

My hope is that they will improve the Facebook sharing to include a route thumbnail and that they will add shoe/gear tracking so I can track how many miles I've put on my shoes. How hard could it be? I mean, it could even be implemented as a tagging system and you can tag your runs any way you want and get miles for a specific tag. Then I could make it a shoe tag or a route tag or whatever.

Hi guys, I found the way! It seems that GC added this feature on the 'Modern' view:
    - switch to 'Modern view' (top right on GC page)
    - on the activity clock "Go to Full Page" (you'll find the option on the Setting icon)
    - Select the activity you want to display on full page
    - now share your activity on FB from here.
You will finally see the map with your route highlighted, instead of the boring Garmin logo.
So we're not at the level of Runkeeper, but Garmin is finally doing 'something'.

Unfortunately not everyone is on the modern version. Not sure when it is going to be rolled out to everyone and judging from the threads about all the problem with it, it could be some time yet.
  • Is this going to happen. It is June on 2014 and Garmin Connect has been update, yet this still doesn't work.
