Elevation Corrections Keep Getting Disabled

Former Member

I have a Garmin Edge 205, so the Elevation Corrections should be enabled by default. I have never chosen to disable them, yet for some rides, I see that they are disabled.

How can I prevent this?

Same problem here, it started on runs uploaded after 3/10/2011. I have a Forerunner 405

    There is something going awry.

I have an Edge 705 and my activities all show Disabled by default, which is correct.

However, I cannot change an activity to Enabled. I click on Enabled, and the screen refreshes, but then it still shows Disabled.

I'm sure that I had toggled an activity back and forth successfully the other day to check something out, and at the time that was working correctly. I just now went back to toggle the same activity and it will not change to Enabled.

Maybe this is a temporary problem with the "third party" function of retrieving the elevation data to perform the Enable corrections process. (?)

I looked at some of your activities. I noticed that some of them indicate a 205 and some of them indicate a 305.

    Is that invalid as well?

    Yes, that's another issue:

I have a 205. If I reset it, then uploads will show it as a 205. But it seems that after I download a course to the device, uploads show the device as a 305, which means that I have to manually enable the correction.

And, as of yesterday, it no longer works to manually enable altitude correction.

I've exchanged emails with tech support on this issue. Although they have responded quickly, they are doing a very bad job of reading the emails and solving the problems.

Also, today for a time, my dashboard page came up in Dutch!

Perhaps tonight's maintenance will fix it.

I am going to reset my device again, and do without the course feature.

Here's what tech support said about this:

    Al,

I am getting the same issue on my end as well as in my personal account.
Further research shows that a few of my co-workers are having the same
issue. The issue has been reported to our Connect developers as of March
14th, 8:01AM CST. We have not had any notifications of a fix or work
    around to the problem.

After the last maintenance stop, I found disabled the elevation correction of the ride loaded yesterday (I'm sure it was enabled).
All of my other rides show the elevation correction enabled.
I've tried to disable one of these and the result is that I can't enable it anymore.
    Congratulation!
  • Elevation correction

Same problem with my 310 xt
I cannot enable correction any more

also, if I disable the correction on an old activity, it works but i cannot restore the correction
  • Still not working after the maintenance.
  • 310xt Elevation Correct won't enable

Now mine won't enable even though Bing map is correct. I have done this run many times with corrections enabled and now some of them won't enable. Elevation correction is important since the GPS elevation is often wrong by more than 50%.

I've reset my device, and so now it is seen correctly as an Edge 205 by Garmin Connect. The elevation correction should now be enabled by default, but it is not.
