Change to Bing maps disappointing

Hello,

I'm disappointed in the switch to Bing maps. The "far" view in both map and ariel is much more distorted than the previous version with google maps. It also seems that the terrain view has disappeared. I assume this was done as a cost saving measure, but from a user perspective, it's a loss of functionality.

However, I still love my garmin as a training tool, and has been helpful in my quest for my first full marathon in early december.

I'd like to add my total dissatisfaction with Bing. Please Garmin bring back Google maps.

I can only agree! Google maps is so much better on all levels.
  • What's the routecase?

How much has M$ paid Garmin to use this junk?

This is just the icing on the cake from the software point. The hardware is great, just everything they do concerning software makes me angry.
The case of bing ? Every child knows:
The day Microsoft will make something, that isn't bad is the day they start producing vacuum cleaners.

What happened to . . . "if it aint broke, don't fix it"

    so true!

And if you felt that adding Bing maps was for the better, how could you miss the obvious solution, namely making it up to the user to chose which map to use.

And maybe what makes me most annoyed is that with all those really good suggestions for improvements that can be found in this forum, you chose to use your developer resources one this!

    Disappointed

I am EXTREMELY disappointed in the switch to Bing maps. I am going to launch a aggressive social media campaign to alert others to this change and hopefully open the eyes to what ever entity decided upon this move. I am definitely not going to use Garmin Connect until another map provider is implemented.
  • Very sad. I don't see how this is an improvement.
Is there a statement from garmin explaining the change? Guess not, just as they don't reply to any of the complaints on this forum. Keep it up garmin, my next watch won't be one of yours.

    Bing maps ? WTF ?

 I was extremely disappointed when I opened up GC today and found that google maps was replaced by bing. The map is extremely inferior and worse of all there is no TOPO ! This is really bad. I am sure someone from Garmin is paying attention to these threads. CHANGE IT BACK !

    Registering my dissapointment...

Bring back Google Maps. Logging in to see my run mangled on a Bing map was not a welcomed surprise this morning.
