Change to Bing maps disappointing

Hello,

I'm disappointed in the switch to Bing maps. The "far" view in both map and ariel is much more distorted than the previous version with google maps. It also seems that the terrain view has disappeared. I assume this was done as a cost saving measure, but from a user perspective, it's a loss of functionality.

However, I still love my garmin as a training tool, and has been helpful in my quest for my first full marathon in early december.

    Not happy

I'm very dissapointed with the change to Bing maps. there is no mapping coverage at a decent resolution in Ireland, in the areas I have been cycling. This is about 80% of the useful functionality for me using the Edge 705, and as such has rendered the product pretty much useless.
At the very least give us a choice to change back, and when you see how many people make a conscious decision to change back to google maps you will see the value they add to your product.
I may aswell not bother bringing the device with me now.
Very very dissapointed and annoyed at this.
  • We want google back!!

    WE WANT GOOGLE BACK!!

Bing maps dont cover Denmark with ariel photos'
  • ....
I actually think Bing maps have better resolution than Google maps and seem to be updated more frequently
    ....

Not in Czech republic. I have to use alternative to Garmin connect.
  • Bing shows Newcastle airport as Altorricón - that's 950 miles out. Bring back Google
  • Shopping Centers and roads that were completed many mnay years ago don't even show up??? This isn't even useful anymore, Sorry but BING doesn't cut it, scrap it! And like other have mentioned, won't even load on my laptop ruinning Windows 7 and friefox. ANd no I don't want to/nor should I have to clear my browser cache...

    Bing Maps

Yikes. Very disappointing these Bing maps. However, all the discussion has led me to RidewithGPS.com which is much more robust than Garmin Connect. Not sure I would have spent the time importing my data to this application without Bing maps but am actually excited to do it now and remove all data from Garmin Connect.

Planning the funeral for my connect.garmin account

    :(:(:
I use terrain mostly, I run on trails a lot. Google even had major trails and fire roads. According to bing I just ran through a wasteland of nothingness.

While I'm not a stranger to business development and how partnerships work, does this wonderful partnership mean the price point of your products will drastically come down? Because they aren't worth as much now!

No nice Garmin references from me either........

Now known as the 'backward, 3rd world technologically uncaring to customers worldwide" company.
  • Hi mates!

What a ripoff! Just purchased my 405CX for a hell lot of money a few weeks ago. The device itself is quite good and I enjoyed viewing my run on gmaps.

Now it is just a disgrace with Bing. I live in Sweden, the coverage is horrible. Now the best: I live in Landskrona, and just on the other side of the Öresund, the coverage is soso okay, at least I would not bother so much. Garmin, are you kidding me? Obviously Bing Maps only concentrates on big cities outside the US. Malmö (40km south) and Helsingborg (20km north) have a fare good quality like Gothenburg and Stockholm, but in the middle where I live and in the rest of Sweden there is nothing. With Gmaps it was just good. You broke it. This was my last Garmin (even my car GPS will be from another company). Good that there are alternatives.

Mates, don't bother with Garmin, delete your account and move, that is the clearest message we can give to them. It is a US company, not worth a penny. They should limit the usage to US citizens only, then noone would complain.

I attached a screenshot. Left side Denmark, right side Sweden. It's just a joke, I cannot believe it.

    Cheers
