Change to Bing maps disappointing

Hello,

I'm disappointed in the switch to Bing maps. The "far" view in both map and ariel is much more distorted than the previous version with google maps. It also seems that the terrain view has disappeared. I assume this was done as a cost saving measure, but from a user perspective, it's a loss of functionality.

However, I still love my garmin as a training tool, and has been helpful in my quest for my first full marathon in early december.

I'd also like to add my disappointment that Bing maps are now being used instead of Google Maps.

I have noticed, however, you can still see some terrain by going to the 'Player' view of an activity.

Still not good enough though. I've just ordered an Edge 800 and this is what they do?! At least runkeeper.com accept uploads with the Garmin Communicator plug-in now.
  • Time to move ?

I think Garmin ask us to move to another tool to reduce their servers load :(

I was already annoyed to not be able to enter health values manually... I need a tool built for users and not for commercial partners ! Even if i need to pay for it !.

    I've just replaced my 705 with a 800, thank you Garmin !

    Bring back Google Maps....PLEASE!!!!

Bing maps are HORRIBLE!!!! Garmin have really taken a step back in time.

I live in South Africa and the Bing maps are about 6 years old....that's just ridiculous!!!
If you have to have Bing maps, at least give us the chance to choose which maps we want to use. I bet everyone will go for Google!!
Google have put so much effort into the South African maps and have even done street views for the World Cup….Bing didn’t even put the effort into upgrading their street maps for the World Cup. In my view, that is just really lazy!!!
    PLEASE bring back Google Maps!!!!:(:(:(
  • Bing no!

If Garmin does not return to GooleMaps, go to SportTracks3, where GM, the terrain and the latest satellite.

I suggest everyone go and write a comment on
their blog to let them know your disappointment. They are at least read
because they have to moderate all comments.

Good suggestion, ...I wonder why there're no comments posted there yet or is Garming banning them? will have to see what happens with my comment...

What a load of rubbish! When Garmin Connect first came out it was awful and unusable. But gradually they worked at it and it's a decent webiste - or at least it was until this week! Google maps are far from perfect, but they are a damn sight better than this Bing rubbish that we've been dumped with.

Come on Garmin, do the decent thing - or at least give us a choice?

Excellent resolution Bing maps. Thank you very much.

Garmin is moderating them. I bet none will be shown!

    No map to see

I was surprised to log on today to find my map completely blank. I live in the Philippines, and seems like Bing has no maps here at all. Even for my runs in other countries, the maps were inferior compared to Google maps -- no landmarks, etc, very minimal info. Please bring back Google maps!
