Can't Upload 310xt -- Tried Everything

Maybe I'm missing something, but I haven't been able to upload since the Garmin Connect site underwent the big update. I had been uploading regularly with no issues. Now, since the update, I haven't been able to upload anything since.

I have a Forerunner 310xt and am running Windows Vista with Firefox as my browser. So far, I've tried: updating to the latest ANT Agent, refreshing by internet browser cache and double checking that Garmin applications and web sites are allowed to pass through my firewall, OS and internet browser. Nothing has worked.

When I turn on my 310xt with the ANT plugged in, it connects for half a second then disconnects (it used to take a few seconds to download data). That's all that happens and no data is transferred or uploaded to Garmin Connect. I'm so frustrated. It used to work perfectly and now -- thanks to the update -- it doesn't work at all. Nice job Garmin.

Any suggestions?
  • Can you send your activities to Training Center? If not, might be some corrupt data on the device. If you can, then maybe an issue with ANT agent or communicator plugin.

    I don't use Training Center. I didn't think it supported the 310xt.

I have a hard time thinking my issue is a corrupted file in the unit, when everything was working fine until the update. Now nothing works.

Could it be that some devices, like the 310xt, just aren't yet working right as a result of the update?

    Any other suggestions?
  • Training Center works fine with the 310XT. At least it would be a good way of troubleshooting your issue. Also, I don't think everyone is having a problem uploading to GC with the 310 (it is working for me). Granted, there have been an increased amount of problems reported on this forum since the update, so I understand your skepticism.

Have you tried a Manual Upload into Garmin Connect?

You also might want to try re-authenticating to Garmin Connect. To do this, delete the GCAuthorizationKey.bin file from your Device Directory (you can find it by reading this post). Then do a short activity to activate the Ant Agent to pick up your new activity. Your web browser should open and ask you to put your username and password in.

Thanks for the suggestions, but nothing is working. I tried deleting the .bin file and that did nothing. I deleted all stored activities on my 310xt, but that again did nothing. With the ANT in and agent ready to upload, I turn on my 310xt as I always have. It connects for half a second and then goes to the regular screens on my 310xt. No data is transferred.

I'm suspecting it's my ANT. I have the latest software (2.2.7), but nothing seems to be working.

    Any other suggestions?

If you deleted all the activities on your 310, what are you expecting to upload?

Seriously? Of course I recorded a new activity to test the download function. Nothing. Ever since the update, my upload function doesn't work. I'm thinking it has to do with the ANT feature, but don't know what else to do about it.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to offend. Sometimes the obvious is overlooked, but I didn't phrase it very well.

Have you tried plugging the Ant Stick into a different USB port? Or re-installing the USB drivers?

Is there a BadFit directory in your Device directory? Are there TCX files in the History directory (underneath the Device directory)?

I tried using the ANT stick in a different USB port, as well as completely uninstalling all ANT Agent components (including drivers) and reinstalling. I also deleted all data off the 310xt and reset it. It's all been to no avail. After I put the ANT stick in the port and turn on my 310xt, the unit vibrates to indicate it has connected and briefly flashes a screen that says transferring data, but then goes back to the main screens on the unit. Usually when the unit actually transfers data, it will take some time (several seconds) and the "transferring data" text stays on the unit until it is complete. At that point, I can go to GC and see my new activities.

As far as a badfit directory, I don't see one. I have a directory named Fit and a file that says lastfit (attached), but that's it. There are also files in the History directory.

    Any other suggestions?

My final suggestion is to call Garmin Support and see what they can do.
