MotionBased better than Garmin Connect

I have used Garmin connect for a few weeks now. I used to use MotionBased. I made the change because MotionBased would no longer accept Garmin fitness device uploads. I am happy with my Garmin device. I was excited to see what unique features the Garmin connect web site had in store and was very disappointed.

Why would Garmin force us to move to the Garmin Connect website? Are they looking for more control over their user population? Why couldn't they provide a comparable experience to MotionBased?

I believe this is an effort by a group of corporate nobody's that work for Garmin. I assume they don't even ride. If they did they wouldn't be putting us through this. MotionBased is much better and it is upsetting to see a decent product vendor make a mis-step like this.

Does anyone have a suggestion for a comparable device to the Garmin 305? I am willing to put the 305 on the scrap heap for something else that works for biking and running.

BTW, Let's get Christian Vande Velde another sponsor!

Thanks,
David

    Sportstracks

I've been using SportTracks since the "migration" to GC, and it works as well, or better, than MB.
  • And if you want web based social logging then www.RunSaturday.com is worth looking at.
Use it in conjunction with SportTracks' runsaturday plugin and you have worthy GTC/GC replacements.

I've had Garmin devices now for coming up to 4 years. I ahve never thought of the software as being a vital part of the 'Garmin' experience. Rather just considered it as something that came with the device as a 'taster'.
