Equipment tracker

I continue to track gear by entering shoe information in the description field of my GC activities. When gear tracking becomes a part of GC (see quote below), at least I'll be ready.

Yup, gear tracking is a planned enhancement.
  • I really prefer Connect more than other (payed) services.
It has everything I need, it's reliable, fast, intuitive, keeps getting new features...
Well, almost everything to be exact - not being able to track mileage makes my life hard.
I don't know why Garmin does not want to make (at least trivial) gear tracking, maybe they want to make it something bigger...

Anyway, I decided to make myself application to allow me to track my gear using data from Garmin Connect API
Like previously suggested here I put gear mark in activity name, so I created app that will get all my activities and sum data by some custom filter.
App will work with any field (description for example) and any kind of filter (contains, starts with, ends with, etc...)
There is also bunch of other stuff you can do.

This is short video in action

If you think it can help you also, you can download app from ">HERE">HERE.

If someone from Garmin thinks that this is not cool let me know.

    Regards.

  • Come on Garmin, we need Gear Tracking, what to know the KMs on my shoes. Dropping the fall on this seemingly basic feature that I had on other run tracking apps before I bought a Garmin.
  • I can't believe Garmin can do all the things they do to keep the market edge (E.g. release a new version of Connect, release the vivofit, phase out the training center, taking over Tritronics, etc.) yet NOT give the users something as simple as a gear tracker which we have all asked for (after 5-6 years now I believe). Unreal... please Garmin listen to the masses!

I totally agree! Why is it not possible to implement a gear tracker over such a long long time? Is there anyone reading this forum from Garmin side??
  • Two different threads in this regard with over 30 pages dating back 5-6 years with not even a simple response dated within the past year from a moderator (which doesn't even mean much)... what message does that continue to send to users? Unreal... the Suunto Ambit looks better and better each day!

  • Why am I typing this. Garmin has not read this in five years. But still I hope for this feature.

    Gear tracker

New to the GARMIN world and after reading these posts I have to agree also,Gear Tracker would be useful. Not only for shoes, but all types of life span managed sport equipment ie bikes for servicing, shoes for lifespan, etc. I rotate between four pairs of shoes and three bikes it would be much easier if this app did all the work for me rather than manually keeping a paper diary track each item. come on guys listen to your customers it seems they have been asking for many years I know MAPMYRUN has this feature so how about it:confused:
  • 14 pages...mods should make this sticky...it's a common enough request by now.
