How to combine files into one multisport activity?

Respected seilogramp once helped someone with this topic.
I would be grateful for a step-by-step description of how to do it.

I've been struggling with this for a long time and nothing comes to my mind

Thanks

  • I used Fit File Repair Tool. Using the merge mode feature to do this. Requires a Windows computer and purchasing a software license. Of course, you can avoid all this by recording the activity using multisport mode on your Fenix 7.Wink

  • This license is expensive. Do you know any other free program that can combine files without errors?

  • Fit File Tools will sometimes do it, but multisport activities are often problematic.

  • Currently there are no triathlon badges. There are some old badges for past triathlon races. Participate in the triathlon at the correct location on the right date and time and log it as a triathlon with a compatible watch.

Are you asking for how to make Garmin add triathlon badges? Send suggestions to https://garmin.com/ideas

  • Hi,

Is there a way to do the opposite: Convert a multisport activity into separate activities. I use a Garmin Instinct 2, HRM Pro+, Running Dynamics Pod w/ a backup Vivofit 4. My main activity was about 45 minutes of Cardio, which was actual intense kickboxing/martial arts training, and I changed sport to end of with some cooldown windsprints and a cooldown walk.

My main activity recorder 3.3 Tempo 98 Load of Hi Aerobic, but thanks to the cooldown windsprints and cooldown walk, it recorded a single low aerobic load 106, instead of a 98 load of hi aerobic, and the rest low aerobic. I don't care about low aerobic. Now I'm about to start getting "High Aerobic Shortage messages" when 98% of the activity was Hi aerobic, the data is recorded as a 98 Hi Aerobic load, but it added no  hi aerobic load like it should.

Please help me out. Its frustrating to do an hour of threshold and maximum activity with an average pulse of 165 (Im 47, so 100% at 173), have the main leg record an accurate hi aerobic load through the roof, but bc I put in some sprints & a cooldown walk by using change sport, it records 1 long low aerobic load and no hi aerobic load.

Each activity has its own load value and training effect, but the thing didn't add them to my workout load properly which is each with their own training load and effect. It added a combined ridiculous single low aerobic load.

Any help would be appreciated. I also wear a an old Fitbit, my new Fitbit broke, and I switched to Garmin bc Google bought them out, but everything is so much simpler and more accurate with Fitbit. I don't have the time to keep manually correcting Garmin excercises, or calculating the physics and math calculations myself, as I am a theoretical physicist and mathematician by training working in the Cybersecurity field, especially when it comes to stationary recumbent biking or martial arts which records best going back to Garmin Connect and changing the sport to Dance Fitness.

This time I used Cardio which records everything, got the proper training loads for my intense workout, but I just had to add a few minutes of sprints and a cooldown & recorded as a multisport activity. I have really bad knees that I have to be careful not to damage, and I do many sports. I shouldn't have to run 2 miles & mess my knees up when they need rest to get high aerobic. Its also why I got an Instinct 2 which pairs perfectly with an HRM Pro+ and Running Dynamics Pod as accessories--I can do any sport, be a runner and a biker and a boxer, etc.

Sorry for the frustration...I love running and biking and martial arts. I just hate having to damage my knees by running knowing my knees need rest just bc I'm afraid Garmin won't record properly.

When the multisport activity finally saved and presented on my watch after I chose "Save", it also displayed on my watch properly, that I finished a multisport activity of 3.3 Tempo Hi Aerobic as I scrolled through the data. It wasn;t until I checked my phone the my exercise load was not properly added as both the my training watch/belt with Running Dynamics Pod Recorded as a Hi Aerobic activity, and the activity has the main leg 2 small legs with proper metrics.

Hopefully I'm explaining my problem properly and why I want to separate the legs. I tried to trim and just erase the last 2 legs bc I don't care about low aerobic, but I get the "A Multisport Activity must have at least 2 legs."

I have a programming background, I hope I don't have to go write a script or editor every time I do an activity other than running.

    Thanks for any help.

  • All values are calculated on the watch so what you do now will not affect any of the values already logged.

To get them separately you have to log them separately.

  • Thank you. I will stay away from multisport. Staying with the same sport or sport type seems to make things much more editable. And restorable. I usually use the option to Download Heartrate Data from my watch, which will download a more correct version of the activity from my heart rate monitor since it has the dynamics, pace, and calculations on it for 17 hours. That will usually repair lost laps and such on the same sport type. And I can make adjustments. Or if I make adjustments and mess it up, I will have a backup copy.

But I didn't download HR data this time, it still gives me 98 Tempo 3.3, about 10 Base 3.4, but still adds it as 108 load low aerobic instead of 98 high aerobic and 10 low aerobic. I deleted legs, adjusted legs, and it will adjust the intensity and redo the calculations, but it will not separate into 2 activities and I have no backup since I didn't save a backup. So I got the same Cardio Tempo 3.3 98 load, and a 3 second activity that somehow gave me Base 3.4 load 10 as I cannot seem to restore the 2nd leg. I'll have to edit the 2nd sprinting leg or find on the web base Connect, as it shows several versions, the original 2nd leg should be somewhere

    Thanks for your help friend.
