The new web home page is a JOKE

I tried the beta and went back  to the good non beta that shows all the info I want in a manner I want to see it, then when i logged in this morning i was confronted with this

And on pressing the blue button I was confronted with this

This is of little use to me really as even with in focus turned on  as I have now gives me very little useful info like my dashboards used to

  • Incidentally, the Google Play feedback on the GC app since yesterday, is through the floor...
I think I counted 2 reviews that were in any way complimentary,

I reviewed it yesterday, gave them one star and told them they were lucky to get that, also went on the support page for the new app/web and at the end where it asks if the article was of help I said no, this brought up a box that asks what could improve things, so I bring back dashboards

  • I did the same yesterday as well.
They've lost the plot on the general application of what a "dashboard" actually is:  i.e. a quick glance at critical information.

  • I did it now, as well. I doubt the neg reviews will do anything either, but perhaps it might warn off at least 5% of people on the fence about buying Garmin, which would have done at least some good for a few folks.
I've started buying the top-range watches (currently still on my FR955) as I needed them for my ultra trails, but this will end now. I could actually kind of live without the useful dashboard, but it's the fact that Garmin doesn't care at all about overwhelmingly negative user feedback in the beta and decided to roll out this unneeded and disastrous UI change anyway - this is what has shown me that I'd be an idiot to give them more of my money.

  • As an aside, I've actually needed to use the PacePro feature for tomorrow's 100M trail "run" with 20k feet asc., to set a quite generous ETA of 40 hours because of a spate of injuries -- except I can't. The website pacepro mapping maxes out at around 33 hours or 12min/km pace on average and there is no way to make it larger, except if you configure the pacepro through the phone or watch, and lose all the other pacepro features like a slower pace during elevation splits and the like.
Yet another thing that makes you ask yourself what was Garmin's problem in setting arbitrary limits for no good reason at all. (And not even limits everywhere, JUST on the website PacePro creator). Lunacy.

  • Sadly I have to agree. The new home page is awful. I too had a nice, usable custom design that gave me the info I wanted and needed on one page without any need to click through numerous supages. Getting this forced upon by Garmean is a total disgrace. Shame on Garmean!

    I get that.

For me though, I want the darned dashboard that I have had all these years & have tailored to suit my situation.

Also like yourself, whether or not Garmin bother to read, let alone allow themselves to be influenced by the volume of discontent they have sown with this inappropriate & umpopular decision, is one thing.

That the masses of negative feedback comments they've suddenly generated might deter future sales, if not because they're seemingly pushing to the mobile apps as standalones but rather that it underlines their inconsiderate manner towards their existing (and loyal) users.
That in itself might well send out a big enough signal to prospective new buyers, to reconsider their options before taking a high-cost plunge that will undoubtedly let them down later too.

Whether or not they actually performed any kind of risk assessment on this decision, is out of our pay grades I'm sure, although I bet we can make a good guess at the answer.

    So Garmin...
    1.  Did you even consider the possibility that this would be so poorly received by a large number of existing users?
    2.  Had you given any thought to the possibility of leaving a "Classic Dashboard", as has been mentioned in this thread several times, as an alternative to the ways in which data from our high-cost devices can still be enjoyed by the masses?
    3.  Having seen the wave of discontent your lack of thoughtfulness had generated, won't you consider the "Classic" option now?

  • That's a real shame mate.
Also, it's the true testament of the failures of this strategy:  That removal of functionality.

  • Absolute dumpster fire of an update.

If there is no forthcoming option to revert to the prior UI, I’ll be taking my business elsewhere.

    Why fix what isn’t broken?

  • That seems to be the general agreement by many.
Make sure you air your displeasure to Garmin with feedback on the site here.
Also some of us have added our voice to the app store that we got it for our mobile phones too.  The Google Play page for GC, is inundated with negative comments.
The greater the weight to the the voices of those unhappy with the change, the greater potential there may be for alternatives to be offered.
    We can but try.

  • Was there a beta for this? Or is this alpha for all straight out of the gate?
