I regularly import tcx files to garmin connect, but these do not lead to and credits in challenges like the 250k monthly joy rides. Is there anything that can be done about this?

Your watch (as a heart rate source) needs to connect to the application (Tacx Training app) controlling the trainer via the device the application is running on (your mobile device). As the VivoActive…
My conclusion is that the Tacx Trainer App needs an URGENT update.
An update the Tacx Training app will not solve the problem. The Tacx Training app (or any other app) can only receive data…
This seem to be the problem....
"If it broadcasts via ANT+ you will only work with a device that can receive ANT+. No Apple devices can receive ANT+ and only a few Android devices can. They are mostly Samsung devices with a few from other manufacturers"
I delete the Tacx Trainer App y re-install it again and neither, my Garmin Watch nor Chest Heart Rate were able to be connected to the Trainer App. The Tacx Traine App simply do not see them.
I did the same with the iPad and the result was the same.
My conclusion is that the Tacx Trainer App needs an URGENT update. Meanwhile I will continue using my Tacx Neo 2T with the Tacx Trainer App, without the Heart Rate information........Frustrating

An update the Tacx Training app will not solve the problem. The Tacx Training app (or any other app) can only receive data from ANT+ sources if the mobile device has working ANT+ radio hardware, drivers, and support software.
Your choices are:
Okay, fair enough. Tacx used to sell a usb2ant dongle that would work with android. It is no longer available (could the Garmin takeover have something to do with that?). I see there is an alternative sold by XAND. I guess I will give that try.
If you planning to use this dongle with an Apple device it probably will not work. Apple are very restrictive about what external devices can be connected to the USB port.
If you are planning to use the dongle with an Android device it may work. It all depends on how much effort the Android device manufacturer put into supporting external USB devices.
For the long term the best option may be to get a chest strap heart rate monitor that uses Bluetooth. A chest strap heart rate monitor should give you better and more consistent heart rate data than the optical sensor on your VivoActive 4.
There are various devices from Wahoo, Polar, and Garmin have the HRM-Dual and the HRM-Pro. The advantage being the device will connect direct to your mobile device without the need for any intermediate devices.
Scillonian, Thanks for your advises, definitely the problem was solved buying a chest strap heart rate monitor with dual band (ANT+ and Bluetooth) and I do not need the watch to have the hear rate avoiding to duplicate the events at the Garmin Connect.
Effectively the iPhone do NOT support ANT+ technology and the older chest strap heart rate monitor transmit only with ANT+. Also all the Garmin watches (at least until today) when they broadcast the Hear Rate, they do it via ANT+ Technology.
The solution are the Dual Band chest strap heart rate monitor.
