Imports, Garmin connect says "already uploaded"

I have a few years of activitys on an other App, before i switched to Garmin.
Recently i manage to get all these in separate .Fit files but just some oft them is ok to upload, the rest gets an error message "file already uploaded" or something like that.

Anyone knows how to fix this?

The files worked fin on an other site without any glitches.

  • If it says "The file has already been uploaded," you should be able to click on the "View Details" link to find out what exactly was already uploaded. The system has some parameter checks to determine that there is enough similar between what you are trying to upload and what already exists. This helps prevent duplicate activities.

  • Yes ok, when i press that one, it links to the activity it think it is. it thinks its an other activity that i do have uploaded, but its not.
    Ie, when i try to upload 2016 06 10, it say its 2016 06 05 and something like that.

    everyone of these worked without any problems on an other site.
    So for instance many of the activitys i tryed from some where in the middle of the year says its dec 17 activity (which it not). And that one is there. same for other that says its alredy there as jun 19 and so on.

    So you're saying that Garmin thinks the activity is for Dec 17th, but that is not correct? Could you attach the fit file for the problematic activity?

    • Zip the file, then in a reply post Insert >> Image/video/file >> click Upload >> browse for file >> OK.
    • Or upload the fit file to a file sharing service, such as OneDriveGoogle DriveDropbox, etc., then share a link to the file in your post.

    i have 412 of them, so i would really like to be able to know the issue, and be able to change them in batch, otherwise its not feasible to do :)

  • As the filenames would indicate:
    Run-20160103-1133-32434.fit - start time 1/3/2016
    Run-20160120-1006-77230.fit - start time 1/20/2016
    Run-20170514-1104-95553.fit - start time 5/14/2017

    All with manufacturer "development." What device was used to record these activities?

    Some applications, such as Fit File Repair Tool will do batch processing.

  • Thanks, so the date is correct  then, strange that connect reads it different.

    They are recorded with an iPhone and the app “Runmeter” from abvio 

    any suggestions of what I can do now?

  • All 3 uploaded fine to my own Garmin account without issues and show up with the correct date and time. The 2 from 2016 had no device info, the 1 from 2017 shows up as an Edge 810. 

    You might want to try filtering by month to better see what you've already uploaded and what may or may not be correct.

    From activities list https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activities, click the running tab, advanced, enter a date range.

  • That is so strange.

    I tried to reach out to Garmin in my country, they did not live up to Garmins usual customer service at all..

    I also had a chat session with Garmin USA.

    she just said we don’t provide help for files from other “places” then Garmin. And suggested using some tool online to fix the files.

    how do you think it will help to sort it differently?

  • I'm still curious what the issue is. When you try to upload Run-20160103-1133-32434.fit, it says "the file has already been uploaded," you click on "view details" and what activity shows up? Something is there that is conflicting.

  • Yes exactly like that.

    but it shows ups like an other date.

    so I I for example try to upload  20160101, it says already uploaded, and links to an other date (dates just for example)
