Manual activity syncs with heart rate data

At the moment, if you create a historic manual activity, the activity does not include heart rate data, even if heart rate data was recorded during the time that activity was taking place.

So if, for example, you go for a run and forget to start your device, although you may have been capturing HR data and it's displayed in Connect within your "all day HR" data field, if you create a manual Run activity when you get home, Connect doesn't sync the HR data that was captured with the newly created activity.

It would be great if manually created activities pulled in the recorded HR data that was captured during the activity period. Hope this makes sense!?
  • It's a simple thing to program, and a lot of people want it.

It looks like not enough of them requested it. Or Garmin considers it, similarly as myself, for completely useless. Slight smile

I could be wrong, but I was under the impression that all-day recording measurements are taken less frequently than HR during activity, and would therefore be less accurate for calorie counting

Yes, the daily HR is recorded with the sampling rate of 2 minutes, in contrary to the Activity recording with the sampling rate of up to 1s. And that's the reason why using te daily HR data for manual entries, and/or for the recalcualtion of Activity Calories makes no sense.

However, the daily Active Calories are being calculated in real-time from the live HR data directly from the HRM (although they are not being stored to the file, to save space). And that's happening directly on the watch (not calculated by the app!!!). So the accuracy of the Active Calories is as good as during an Activity - that was my point.

  • I also vote in favour of this option. It seems a bit odd that Garmin doesn’t bother to comment on this subject in their user community.

  • I 100% agree, this should totally be a feature. Coming from a Fitbit, it's odd to see that something that seems to be so simple is not yet implemented.

...And it would be nice to have Garmin weigh-in on this.

  • The need is unchanged and has been logged for years. It would be great if Garmin stopped the silence, acknowledged concerns users have raised and explain what can or cannot be done about it. C'mon GWinkmin- you can do betterWink

  • 3 Years later... This is still not a feature? This seems so basic, my Garmin continuously tracks my heart rate, and I say I worked out from this start time for this long, pull the data collected for the heart rate during that time frame into the manually created workout.

If I trim a workout it REMOVES the data... same concept right?
