How to get rid of badges

Is there any way to get rid of these annoying badges? They might be fine to try to get little kids interested, but they are an annoyance for adults.

Can't you see how unbelievably patronising that is? I don't want badges, I don't want them to be there. This isn't a 'Clash of Clans' mobile game, it's not a scouts award ceremony - it's me, going out…

Adult here. They don't annoy me at all.
Easiest way to get rid of them is to just finish them all. Good luck with that.

I use badges, but have never seen a badge or any badge announcement popping up in my browser, unless I go to the Badges screen, and explicitly click on one of the badges. Could you post a screenshot illustrating the situation with the popping up badge?

Agreed it is not about the psychology and clear and concise button by button answers is what we need to questions especially those of us in later years. However I do have huge sympathy for those like me who find the nonsense of them offensivly patronising. They should only ever be opt-in.
