Add "stretches" to workouts

I could not find if this was already discussed or requested, I did search. I would really like to see stretches added to the workout segment, in particular the strength portion if that matters. I am currently trying to gain strength back from back surgery after years of back problems and I add a lot of stretches into my routine. With the current setup I have to just throw something in there under warm up to get me my stretch time. Currently I am using Calf Raise under warm up for my calf stretches. Just seems like an easy option to add in, even if its just custom names, it doesn't have to be able to count reps or anything.

Anyone else?
  • I'm seeing several different stretches available on Garmin Connect Web.

  • Sorry for the confusion. I'm talking about an activity label like Run, Strength, Pilates, MTB, etc. Would be nice for a Stretch activity.

  • Understood. I think when this thread started 5 years ago, stretch sets did not exist, so that was the complaint. Having an activity profile called "Stretching" would be nice. I'm currently using the activity profile Pilates, even though I'm sure it's not quite pilates, then using a custom workout called Stretching. That way it shows up in Garmin Connect as something that makes sense to me.

  • Yeah, but we shouldnt be using "Pilates" or "Yoga" just to enter our stretching. Those two things are their own things. "Stretching" should be a thing on its own and work like "Strength". ie: In "Strength" you can enter the strength exercise you did (eg: Bicep Curl) and how long you did it for/reps.
We should have "Stretching" and then be able to enter the stretch we did, and the duration we did it for.

  • I believe Garmin is showing they expect people tracking their stretching, to enter it as a Strength activity.  Obviously it isn't going to be autorecognized very well from the watch (most are not anyhow), but can edit them after the fact quick and easy.

If you type 'stretch' into the edit field or into your setup of your planned/saved Workout... there are 40+ "Stretch" options.   Pretty well rounded options.  If you want the time logged seperately from Strength (i would)... then logging it as pilates, yoga, other would be smart for the monthly graphs/logs etc.  Cuz stretching for 10min 3x week is MUCH different then Liftin heavy weights for 30min once a week - wouldn't want to count that in my totals.
