Reports -> Progress Summary Issue

Hi Everyone,

I noticed the 'Reports' has been updated recently. When using the "Progress Summary" function I used to be able to see my total mileage by selecting "Running" under "Activity Type". Now it appears that "Running" does not include Treadmill workouts.

My suggestion is to have "Running" include both treadmill and outdoor workouts just as it was in the past.

Thanks.

    I also need that feature back. It was nice to get all running workouts with one report. Now one has to do several reports from all running sub activity types.

  • I agree that Running ought to be treated like a superclass that includes Street Running, Trail Running, Track Running and Treadmill Running, etc. just the way both the drop-down menu when (re-)classifying activity records and FIT file definitions (with sport and sub_sport) suggests. While I understand that by default, outdoor running is classified as Running (especially on models that do not support a native Trail Running profile or additional user-created profiles), but those who want to (re-)classify those activity records to a lower level of granularity can do so; and, judging by some of the posts in this forum, I can see some users already do. I see no logical reason why either Treadmill Running or Street Running (for example) would be considered distinct from Running in any report, even though those two subclasses are mutually exclusive of each other.
  • Hi,

    I agree I was using it as well and then just wondered what I'm doing wrong....please bring the activity type aggregation back.
    Thank you

    Agree with the above - this change renders the progress feature either cumbersome or useless for me. Not to mention that running cadence is now expressed in "rpm" rather than the previous (and correct) "spm".

  • The same goes for cycling. And I would guess swimming also. Please group all Cycling activities under Cycling. (or create a new all cycling, all running, all swimming filter) Without this the reports are useless when comparing previous years to current years progress.

  • i agree with asmug, in addition the editing of the fields does not seem to work, the drop down menu freezes upon boxes selection, without updating the changes
  • It would be helpful to know if this irritating change will be fixed back to its former performance (i.e., choosing RUNNING includes ALL running activities)

    Agreed. It's an annoying, and seemingly pointless, change to the existing functionality..

    I totally agree with all of the above. The Reports area is now totally unuseable to me. Not being able to filter by the Super Categories (Running, Cycling etc.) makes it pointless. And also if you group it by month, the activity totals at the bottom for things like Average Speed & Average Run Cadence don't average it out...they put the sum total!

    Revert it back to something more user friendly!!
  • Running should be a primary category with sub categories available for tracking types of runs. I'm interested in total miles whether it's road, trail or treadmill. It's very frustrating that I've been using these reports for 3+ years and suddenly it won't let me look at my running totals. I have always loved Garmin but if they're going to streamlining the reports for the vivofit crowd... they're going to lose performance runners! Please fix this.
