Request: custom exercises in workout builder (i.e. strength training) and BUG REPORT

This tool is actually quite good. being able to build a time weight workout with cues as to weights reps and exercises. The list of exercises available in the workout builder for strength training activities is quite good. however...it can never be comprehensive. there are too many out there.

1) problem: all exercises desired in a given workout are not available in the exercise picker within the workout builder

request: would be nice to have the ability to add user defined exercises to this list. doesn't seem like it would be too cumbersome to do so. e.g. rather than just having 1 arm dumnbbell rows" with a note (which you can't read effectively on the watch during the workout) about the position you are doing it in (bent over, plank, etc) you could add exercise "1 arm DB rows in plank"...other examples exist where the exercise is entirely not in the list. a good example of this is stretches...there are in fact only 2 listed. i might like to add specific stretches to my workout.

2) problem: unit of measurement for weights isn't correct

for some reason (maybe i'm missing something?) the watch is changing my unit of measure. on my workout builder and in my settings i have units set to LBS. on the watch during the workout, however, it changes the unit to KG then converts it back (incorrectly) to lbs in the logged activity. e.g. i've entered "20 lbs" in the workout builder for an individual exercise and during the workout it prompts me "20 KG" (which could be worse..at least i know which dumbbell to pick up)..but when it uploads the activity afterwords...it converts "20 kgs" (from the watch) to "44 lbs" in the log. this is problematic for progress tracking.
  • I would like to see this feature as well, possibly soonish, it shouldn't take so much effort - simple free text area for the exercise field will be more than enough. I am doing calisthenics and most of the calisthenic exercises are not available in the pre-populated list. Please, please address this problem as soon as possible, I really hate to use another application to log my workouts. I would like to be able to log everything health related to my Garmin account through various sources.
  • I'd really love to add my own exercises to the list, it would make Connect so much more useful for strength training workouts. As a number of people have mentioned, the number of exercises folks do is just too much to have a comprehensive, exclusive list. On top of that exercises such as stretching are often a part of weight/training room workouts, and these are completely missing.
  • Another vote for being able to add free-form exercises to strength training.

I also see something similar to Woodsonjt. My workouts on the watch (FR 935) were showing up in Kg. I tracked it down and seems the problem is related to workouts I created in the mobile app, both iOS and Android. Workouts I create on the Web site don't seem to have that issue.
  • Another vote for adding our own exercises. Kettlebell deadlifts were oddly missing, so had to settle on another. Not a crazy issue but looking back at previous workouts I'd have to remember each time that happened.

Along with the identified issues above, I would like to see the exercises I add to a workout to show up in Garmin Connect when I complete the workout. Currently I have to go back and re-enter the exercises, reps and weight. Thanks Dave
  • Another vote for user entered exercise
  • Yet another vote to allow custom text entries for workouts. This was something I asked about years ago with my Garmin 620 when I wanted to do custom running workouts. Garmin almost never responds to user requests unfortunately. I'm just frustrated that this seems like it would a be a super easy change to make if they only desired to do so.
  • I struggle to remember what to do next in my stretching and strengthening sessions. There are lots of ways to solve my problem, including paper (gasp) but it would be neat if my watch told me the next thing to do.

I've tried using the Workouts feature a couple of times over the last year. The idea is very appealing and there are some really neat capabilities built in already, but so far it hasn't actually been helpful.

Since there have been a bunch of updates recently I tried it again today. Right now the lack of custom exercise names (e.g. stretches) was the main deficiency I ran into.

The list of exercises I've been given by physios and trainers over the years is long and often they're making up names as they go but the names have come to mean something to me. Having my watch show me one of those names would streamline my stretching sessions and help me do more in less time.

All that to say: +1 for this feature.
  • Also the possibility to add half kg.
I wanted to add a weight of 12.5kg, but not possible.

The possibility to filter the workouts would be nice too. For example to show only run, or only strength workouts.

+1 for the custom name of the workouts.
+1 for being able to see next exercice on the workout data field of the watch.

Definitely need the ability to add exercises. I have over 40 exercises I do on my TRX Suspension trainer and the current list contains two. This certainly shouldn't be difficult to implement.
