Garmin Connect: editing distance swimming activity

Is it possible to edit the distance shown in a swimming sesion? If yes, how?
  • I have a Forerunner 735 XT. I use it to swim and bike riding.
Up to now swim length counting was perfect.
Today the watch missed one flip turn and one lap, disrupting the statistical information.
Until purchasing this watch I was using a Swimovate, which tend to count to much turns, but it was very easy to edit the lap list in the computer application and split one lap in two, or add two laps (which wer, in fact, partial laps).
It is possible to manualy change the number of laps in the Garmin Connect mobile phone app, but it doens't allow to make correctly. I was able only to change the number of laps (and th total distance) but not to correct the specific lap which of wrongly recorded.
Question: Is it possible to edit the log and make the same type of correction as with the Swimovate software? How do we do it?
    Additional information: The pool is 50 m long; I was swimming breaststroke, as part of a workout with several different activities;

    Thanks for your help
  • Yes it is possible as a simple search would reveal - edit swim distance Garmin

This kind of answer is not at the level of a "master" user. "as a simple search would reveal", the proposed solutions or answers are neither clear nor straightforward. So, either you point to the correct answer, or you avoid useless comments. I tried the search but could not find any useful solution. Can you please point me to the right link?

    Thank you very much

  • Hey Sandminer. Go to your smart phone, open Garmin Connect. Select the specific swim session and when the high level summary screen opens tap on the 3 vertical dots in the top right of the screen. Select edit activity and make your edit. Don't forget to save your edit. Share this with whoever has the problem. And to those who are carrying on like POTUS stop blaming Garmin for your own stupidity. Cheers mate.

This doesn't work, at least for me: garmin connect mobile app refuses to save an edited activity. There is a real problem with editing of the swimming activities, and sarcasm in your comment doesn't help.
  • Hey alipovoi, I had to edit a swim I had today and was unable to on Garmin Connect. I was sure that I could before but that would have been a few years ago. I tried what tweedmal said and downloaded the Garmin App. I was able to edit the number of laps and the time and it saved to Garmin Connect online. Strange you can no longer do this online.
    Thanks for the tip tweedmal
  • Thank you! I was able to do this online a few years back, and haven't needed to until yesterday's swim. I did two sessions and both sessions joined my first two laps together on my Fenix 5s. Strange! Thank you for mentioning that it can now be edited in the app, that worked for me. Thank you!
  • Hi everyone! I have the same problem, but in this case, I was not able to modify the distance. On the web, it is not possible to change it (at least, I didn't find it). But in the the app, although I was able to change the number of lengths, it still show the wrong distance in the main page. In my case the problem was that I used a kickboard.

    Any help?

    Thanks in advance

  • Probably because there were a lot of swimmers coming against me.

I did 30 laps of 50m but the watch has 58 laps recorded.

I can edit the laps - but that does not make any changes to total distance or the pace/100m. Basically it will be impossible for me to track improvements in pace/100m as my PR is now more than a minute better than what I can actually swim.

I found the swimming editor and it works but is kind of difficult to use as you cannot just edit the total distance and the number of laps. You have to merge every lapw ithout knowing what length it has recorded for this. That information is only listed as number of strokes used.
  • ANDREASDK1982 - If you edit laps in Connect on a PC it does change the total distance and then adjusts your pace per 100M. You can edit on the PC connect by changing the pool swim type to anther type and then back again - that opens up the fields for editing - clunky but it gets you to the right answer.
