Garmin connect data mirgrated???!?!! need help to PUT IT BACK

My iOS app logged me out and said "my data is being migrated to China data center" and now the app and the website are both LOCKED OUT for me for an undetermined amount of time.

Firstly, I *NEVER* asked for ANY DATA migration!

Second, there is NO TIMELINE given, I could be locked out for weeks!

Third, even the website now redirects to a garmin.cn domain! I can't even switch anything back, and the login is in a redirect loop, so I get NOTHING.

PLEASE, someone at garmin, PUT THINGS BACK.

These forums are user to user.

You need to contact Garmin support for a problem like this.
  • Ok, but garmin support sent me here.... how else do I contact them?

I can't use my connect page any more, its all in chinese :(

I don't know what to say.

I am hardly an expert, but I have been actively following these forums for 5 months and have not seen anything near what you experienced.

I don't see how this can be correct by anyone but Garmin.

Either the support person either did not understand or was just being lazy.

Try support again and if needed ask them to bump up to a supervisor. And you might have to keep trying.

You might also try on Garmin's Twitter account. The have employees respond.

I fail to see how this response is in any way helpful.

I have exactly the same problem as this user:

    1) Garmin take 3 working days to respond, if they even bother to respond at all.

    2) Twitter does not work in China, it's blocked.

    3) Calling Garmin does not work in China as their support is all in Mandarin (do you propose an International long distance call to rectify an issue not of your making?).

Please tell us again how a user legitimately reaching out to others on the forum who may be experiencing a similar issue, and may well have found a solution or work-around they can share warrants your dismissive reply?
  • Nothing dismissive about the reply. It's a fact. As has been stated, there are no other instances of this that have been reported (as far as I am aware).

If you want this rectified you have to get in touch with Garmin Support. Period. There is no guarantee that Garmin will see this thread.

As well as Twitter, try Garmin's Facebook page - https://www.facebook.com/pg/Garmin/posts/?ref=page_internal
  • It could be that your Garmin account has been hacked. Or you've activated a virus or something like that. I'm in Australia and my files go to a .com address when I upload to Garmin Connect. I don't see that there should be anywhere else it should be going.

Sorry, but dismissiveness is subjective. Whilst you may think your reply wasn't, those experiencing the issue probably won't.
There are myriad factors you have not taken into consideration.
There may not be any other instances of this issue you have seen, but that is because the server migrations began yesterday.
Asking for help/advice on this forum is what it is here for. You know, incase other users are experiencing the issue and get info from Garmin they they can then share with others??
Garmin support are sending people HERE for info.
Garmin support take 3-5 working days to respond, if at all.
    Facebook is blocked in China.
    So is Twitter.
A long distance phone call is also out of the question.

Nobody is here for an argument, and as things stand, it's clear you have no idea what you're talking about, so please stay off the thread so that other (more informed) users can try to share information and rectify the problem.
  • Also having problems with Garmin Connect in China

Today my GarminConnect application was changed on my IOS and now every time I try to log into Garmin Connect it sends me to the China server ... doesn't have all my recent courses, can't edit any courses, and doesn't sync to Strava anymore. What a mess.
  • Do you happen to have an APAC (chinese) version of the watch? It could be the migration happened because your watch has the part number for that vs a "rest of world" device. Might also explain why it doesn't seem to be something that's happening to others.
  • China Data Center Support mail

I think you can contact "[email protected]" with your GC registered email address, they can help you out. English is welcome.
